The stock hard drive in my Alienware M11x R3 was damaged and I wasn't able to recover anything off of it. I ordered a new hard drive and have replaced the damaged hard drive with it. The m11x doesn't have an Optical drive, but I purchased the drive that Dell recommended when I bought the machine, so I should be able to install Windows 7 from the Disk that came with the computer.

My question is how do I clean install Windows 7 onto a brand new hard drive in an Alienware M11x r3?

I'm not trying to be snarky here, but exactly like you would with any other computer. You will ideally also want to have a USB key (or have the files burned onto the windows install DVD) with the most important drivers ready (graphics, wireless card) so that you can quickly and easily set the laptop up and get it running like normal.

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure that I knew what I was doing, no sense in taking risks with installing something as important as the OS and drivers.
