    Hello,

I have a concern with the start of my M11x R2. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and the logo W7 freeze. There is a slight lag, a small slowdown.

Here's 2 video to better explain the concerns :

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BBx2lhVcfk (At 1.05).

I have exactly the same concern on the hard drive 500 gigabytes of Alienware and on my Intel SSD Postville. I reinstalled 2 different versions of Windows 7 (Home and Ultimate) so it's not a bad installation of Seven, I reinstall the NVidia drivers (260.99 and 261), I turn off one by one the components in Bios to see if one of them was defective, I even reflash my BIOS version was already in A3 ... and I still have this lag to boot into Windows 7.

Is this normal, is what others have this problem ? Is there a solution ? Is my M11x R2 has a concern and is what I must send back to Dell ? Thank you in advance for the help !

I looked at the video but I really did not see a problem. You shouldnt really take visual cues as booting performance so in that case try turning off GUIBOOT setting in msconfig and see whether that affects your boot time or not. Overall I think 25 seconds is pretty good, I'm somewhere near 33 myself.

I think you're worrying too much.

There is a very specific reason for why the bootup animation lags a bit - because your computer is doing other things during bootup that are far more important than dedicating resources to a smooth bootup animation.

Everything else about your computer works fine. Your computer boots. Your computer runs applications. Your computer runs games.

I wouldn't worry about it. Grab a beer, sit back, and enjoy the laptop.

I agree that this isn't an issue to be concerned with. My R2 did that with the stock 160GB drive it shipped with, on my XT that was cloned from the original drive and also after flattening and installing 7 fresh. Your boot times are pretty good based on what others have reported here.
