Screen quality is very subjective, but how bad/good would you rate the screen? Not about glare, but in Blackness and off viewing?
I recently bought an Asus with a 15in 1920x1080 screen. Love the laptop but Black is really grey and off-angle viewing (bearly ok) makes watching Blu-ray not so great. Yet I have a 2 year old Sony TZ-150 with a 11in(I think) and Blacks are really dark and off viewing is ok (not great) So watching avi files are fine.

How good would this screen in the Alienware be to watch a 720HD movie?

comparing it to my 15 macbook pro. The Macbook pro is about 20% brighter. I find the blacks to be better then most machines i have seen at bestbuy. Personally i love the screen and i think its one of the best panels for the laptops price.

    how is the viewing angles?

I find LED screens in general to have horrible viewing angles.

Viewing angle is sub par, as Fasailmac said, my macbook pro definatly has a brighter screen, and a better viewing angle than the M11x. But comparing it to other LED screens of the same size or smaller (netbooks) it is amazing.

I figured off angle up/down would be not so great, but one thing I couldn't stand was that black wasn't really black. Granted, this isn't high-end(for the price)
But for example, when you power on the laptop in the dark, can you see the screen turn on to a grey and the picture on the screen comes on? Hard to describe. Like light bleeding where the bottom of the screen is grey on a screen that has no picture but has power to it.

I know this is an old thread but the screen is terrible! It's the absolute worst screen I've ever seen....I was so excited to get my m11x r1...but can't keep it with a screen this bad. The search continues for a smaller laptop that can game :(

I'm honestly shocked people can say anything other than this screen is the worst. You cannot get an even picture across the display....no matter how you tilt it or what angle you are looking at it from. IT is impossible. I would have gladly paid $100 for a better screen! Even $200! that is how much I like the rest of this laptop. I had a recently refreshed macbook pro 13" and the screen looks amazing compared to the m11x. Not just the brightness but EVERYTHING. The viewing angles are waaaaaaaay better, contrast is way better. The m11x basically looks like you are looking through a cloudy film all the time. I had an asus ul80vt and one of the main reasons I got rid of that was the horrible screen, and the alienware is worse! Sorry, I just can't stress enough how bad it is... I wish I had known before I purchased.
