yeah check the alienfx lite thread. you can manage the speakers seperately from eachother, I just slightly dimmed the left one... although mine really wasn't that noticeable to begine with.

Ya that is normal for the white color. The white color isn't perfectly white. Forgot the reason why but Batboy has said why in the past.

i noticed this on mine. so when they came to open up my laptop and swap motherboards. i checked it out. the led display on the rightside where it was dim wasnt pressed up into the case. you MUST open up the laptop and fix this if you want the leds to be the same.

Mine started acting up today. Wireless connection keeps going off and comes back on again randomly. My other laptop works perfefctly fine. I reset the router and the connections to make sure it wasn't that. Anyone else have anything similar? Its very annoying.
tried to update the drivers for the 1520 wireless card but its up to date. anyone?thx

I have HWmonitor installed and it never runs hot (~45 for gpu, ~40 cpu) when i'm using it normally

so not sure if i am just a newb, but is there a way to turn off the bluetooth adaptor OTHER than right clicking the icon in tray? When i use fn+f2 it turns off ALL wireless including bluetooth, i just want to be able to use bluetooth without wireless( working on papers using a bluetooth mouse for example)
thanks for any heads up :D

@mel = youch any plans on how to fix that?

@mk1freak = Nope save from turning off wireless completely, there isn't a way to turn BT off with a Fn key or shortcut.

Whenever I plug my M11X into either of my TV's through HDMI, absolutely nothing happens. Is it possible that I have a dead HDMI port?

Got mine yesterday - exact spec as you and same problem.

BSOD on Windows logon/splash screen when overclocking is enabled in the bios. Bugger. Everything else is perfect though, bar erratic fan behavior even with the Alienware and Face recognition services removed and disabled.

I also cloned the HDD to a OCZ Vertex SSD - same story.

    Guys - serious question:

Would reapplying TIM compound to the CPU perhaps allow a successful overclock ?

Or is the only hope here that the next bios revision allows for a 0.1-0.15 VCore voltage increase, like the SU7300 overclocked in the Asus which I believe shows around 1.038 to 1.07V on their "turbo" mode ?

Its more probably that the processor is faulty and less likely that it's a overheat-related crash, IMO. The next round of driver revisions is what everyone is waiting for. Touchpad, nvidia drivers, BIOS.

    I'm thinking the same.

Also - only scores aroun 5,400 3dMark06 points with GFX core upp'ed to 550.

    5,000 on stock 335m clocks.

Rather poor. Sounds like a dud processor.

Well I cannot speak for others, but I was freaking out too, as when they first started shipping, the first person to comment about the M11x from the UK, said they couldn't overclock there lappy and it kept crashing all the time, sorry I forget his name.... I recieved mine the following week after this individual and touch wood everything has been fine, I overclocked it the minute I got it, didnt even boot up the first time un oc'd..

i followed all the tips in the optimisation thread to get the most outta it that I could, and has been rock solid.... but tbh, if you look in a troubleshooting thread, your bound to find folks with faults ;)...

For myself the only problem i've had is that there is a slight gap in the top of the screen where the glass screen doesnt fit quite in, you wouldn't notice it without looking, as I only investigated it, after I read that problem with others, who have it FAR worse than me... performance seems good, it does what I wanted it for, runs starcraft 2 like a charm, left 4 dead 2 is great, and should be good for diablo 3, in 2025.

I got lucky.... I hope you will too .

Installed them about an hour ago and must say they feel a bit "laggy" to the touch of a finger, even once sensitivities have been adjusted and tweaked.

How would describe their "flakiness" ?

*evil grin* but wait ...if I set the bios to overclock .... my whole lappie will crash ! BSOD'style. Synaptics pad included.

Personally, no issues with my machine here. Everything is nice and toasty. Its kind of a coin toss to see which manufacturing plant you get.

Yeah i thought that would have been the case, either that or some blown LEDs, so i returned mine to JBHiFi. I dont care how long i wait now, just give me a fault Free one damnit :( Its the 2nd one i have to return in 4 days.

First one was scratched from factory right out of the box. 2nd one has a faulty right side speaker LED (Way dimmer than the left)

    Hopefully 3rd time lucky

PS: I didn't feel confident enough to try and open the lappy incase i did something wrong and voids the warranty

no pics, but yeah that doesn't seem right. My gaps was from the edge to edge screen and the plastic bezel on top, but if I pressed down on the plastic edge the gap was reduced.. but yeah my corners are straight though, those are bent/loose. Can you push it in?

For everyone who's seeing odd colors with their Alienfx zones, knowing how this system works might help you understand why you get the tints.

There are no white LED's in the zones, there are three LED's Red, Blue, and Yellow for each zone. All the color combinations you get with AlienFX are varying intensities of those three primary colors. Yellow and blue - on = Green, Red and Blue - On = Purple, Red and Yellow and Blue -on = white etc.

The LED's use light channels, clear plastic pieces that move the light from the LED's to the various points in the zone, think fiber optic lamps)

So if you see a pink tint, its because the RED led is:

    1. Bleeding through the light channel because its closer to the key, or
    2. Because its a bit brighter than the other two LED's.

My guess is that the LED's for the Keyboard zone are under the ESC key, so that is where any imbalance is most evident.

its a slippery slope. I dont think thats a big deal, mine are similar to some extent.

If you like the PC, just put up with it for now and call in 6 months to say your LCD stopped working and they'll swap it out.

its up to you, if this bothers you go for it. I'll tell you right now I had my M11x replaced for screen build weirdness like that and the 2nd unit was exactly the same.

I'm just suggesting, wait a few months then report the fault and they can replace it with something that hopefully is better off down the line after they smooth out these build issues.

Or just do it now, but there is no guarantee it won't be the same thing.

    Hi,

I just got my unit. Works pretty great. I saw the question somewhere asked at some point (but couldn't find it with search) about the fact that colors look a bit more "bleak" if that's the right word, when I'm using integrated graphics. As if it's not really 32-bit color setup or the contrast is too high. I'll try to post some screenshot (I tried so far, but it didn't turn out well).

I would appreciate if someone can repost the solution, if there is any.

    Thanks.

    Windows version: Win7 64bit
    Processor: SU7300
    Amount of memory: 4GB
    HDD: 250GB 7200
What power state (saver, balanced, or performance)?: Performance

So, I can't get HDMI to work without having the monitor connected to the laptop before powering it on or rebooting, and I refuse to believe that is accurate. :p

Fn+f1 doesn't do anything, nor can I find anything in the NVIDIA control panel - and yes, I'm using the 335m.

I've been searching around the forums for quite a while, but I haven't found anything to help resolve this. Any ideas?

hi guys. just got my m11x today two weeks ahead of my estimated arrival date. Firsdt thing i do is try and turn on the OC and i get bsod right after log in. i've tried with integrated on, discrete on, plugged in, on battery, different power settings. In short every combination i can think of and no matter what i get bsod within a minute when OC.

This is my first laptop and im pretty dissapointed this feature isn't working as i paid for a 100%functional machine not an 80% one. The OC was a selling feature for me. i've been looking everywhere on these forums for info related to my problem and as i have found no solution i now have a couple questions of my own.
    1) is the OC problem to be something that a bios update can fix or should i raise a stink with Dell CS and try and get a new unit out of this?
    2) If i do go through Dell CS what is the best way to go about getting them to ship me a new unit? Do they give a damn about me not being able to OC? Is it something i should even mention as my problem or should i be as vague as possible?
    3) or instead of replacement should i just get an m15x, abandoning my nice little long batterylifed, supplemental gaming rig.

seriously though this thing is pretty cool, already getting used to BC2 on the small screen. thanks in advance guys. look forward to hearing from you all

so i think i have a small problem. When i plug in two pairs of earphones into the m11x(one in each port) it seems that only 1 of the earphones will have sound coming out of it. Then testing each individual pair of ear phones with either jack will worth so both jacks are working. Then with both plug in i open up the properties and just click test sounds and sound will come out of the corresponding headphone i click test sound for. Since Windows sounds will work with both pair of ear phones im guessing there are some settings that i haven't discovered? I used media player classic and could only get 1 pair of earphones to have sound come out...games are the same too.

Enough of my dead pixels and white blobs on the screen, I called dell and asked to replace lcd. And they made an order for a new one. Despite the fact that i bought m11x in Denmark, and asking for service in Russia. Serviceman will come in a few days and replace screen. God, I don't believe that such high level of service exists.
