Hey guys, I'm having a persistent problem with my M11xR1 for about 2 weeks now.

Everytime I try to reboot it, the screen goes blank, everything stays lighten up, but the screen goes blank, sometimes it gives two beeps, I usually then force a shutdown and when I boot up, it kinda turn up and down 2-3 times, before showing up the bios screen and booting normally.

I search quite a lot in this forum and on google, but I didn't seem to find anyone else with this kinda of problem.

Also I was using a OC processor for months now, I took out the OC to see if that was the problem, but it didn't change, other than this problem the note seems to be working fine.

Sounds like it COULD be a RAM problem? Try taking one out. Also, is this behaviour same no matter if its plugged in or on battery?

So in summary what you should do to troubleshoot:

Test if its anything to do with the parts of your laptop you can change:

    1) Battery. Try booting plugged in or not, report behaviour. Try taking out battery, boot (obviously plugged in), report behaviour.

    2) RAM. Take out one stick at a time, report behaviour. Swap sticks around in the two sockets, report behaviour.

    3) HDD. Do you have another HDD to try and boot with? Doesn't have to have an operating system, you just wanna see if it boots.

    4) BIOS. Reset to default. Wipe CMOS or reflash. Report back.

    Thx for the quick answer.

    1) The problem persist with the AC power plugged or on the battery, also it should be mentioned that very rarely I receive the message, "Battery not recognized, it will not be charged", after I shutdown and boot up again once or twice, the message goes away, and the problem only happened a handful of times.

    2) Haven't tested yet

    3) After that problem, I upgrade my old hdd to a ssd, and the problem continues.

    4) I'm gonna do a wipe, but I don't think I can reflash the bios, it says my bios is updated already, or can I?

Yes you can still update BIOS even if its up to date by opening the update program, and when it says "error cannot update because bios is newer or same version" or something like that, go to the unpacked folder, ie c:\windows\temp\winphlash. once you are there, close the installer, and manually click on winphlash.exe. and in 'advanced settings' untick "flash only if bios version is newer than system" and then it should run by clicking on OK and then "flash bios"

So basically what you still need to do:

    1) Take out battery, boot, report back.

    2) Take out/swap out part of RAM, boot, report back.

    Something else you can see:

Does your battery charge if Laptop is off? Try this:

    1) laptop is off and unplugged - > now plug in laptop -> does it charge (ie alienware head power button should glow)

    2) laptop is on and unplugged -> now plug in laptop -> turn off laptop -> does it charge?
