Yay.. all kinds of new presents for R2 users. Lucky chaps. More drivers to play with for me too.
Gotta give erawneila (Brian) a special thanks for keeping on these.
Definitely gonna have to recommend updating to these if you used my modded INF in the past. Seems like these may tackle the power issue ninja2000 mentioned. Looking forward to hearing if they indeed do.
Official < Unofficial - My mod is missing some stuff these have. -
-
oh yea FO3 forgot to load that up too. Hey do you guys have issues with the inegrated web cam on the R2? I cant get it to use the dedicated card & looks terrible.
-
so do we download the 25x.xx series or the 19x.xx drivers? both?
-
The 197.72 driver is for the 11x R1 - not an Optimus driver. you want the one I linked to in post#1 of this thread - if you have an R2.
-
-
Is this by any chance going to resolve the optimus issues on the R2?? Getting my R2 tomorrow and hoping the driver was released just in time:GEEK:

Just got my R2 yesterday and been digging through massive amounts of threads. So I beg your forgiveness if this stuff has been posted before. Just installed the new drivers from Dell's site and tried some of the games I was having issues with.
Issues:
Witcher still crashes on launch.
Dawn of War II will not allow me to change graphical settings any higher than low, even though according to Optimus tools the says the GPU us activated.
Sacred 2 has horrible performance, but with how stable the game itself is...who knows if it one or the other. Prolly both
Good stuff:
ME2 plays perfect.
Bad Company perfect.
Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 are perfect.
Torchlight perfect.
Overall, still frustrated but we'll get there. -
Bioshock 2 had not worked for me at all, installed the new driver and works just fine. Downloading GTA4 at the moment and will test it soon. Very happy with the new driver.
-
Installed the new driver and get kicked by punkbuster on BFBC2
also notice my fps are lower.
Also as stated by others cant change my DOW2 settings
And finally items I add to my nvidia control panel still dont stay there!
Edit - just got kicked from COD WOW for multiple D3D errors againThis optimus is a pain
-
yea can't wait till they get the damn drivers right, lol.
-
lovin the new drivers with gpu and cpu overclock 7874 3dmark06. This is a stable GPU overclock too and the i5 processor.

-
wow that cpu score is about the same as an i7! what was the stock cpu score?
-
Ok... installed the new beta driver from dell website as well as the NVIDIA Optimus state viewer.
Attaching the screenshot of the graphic games and applications after the new driver install. These I cannot delete or change.
Anno 1404 or Venice addon is no longer in the list but optimus switch over to nvidia when I started the them.
The Optimus GPU State Viewer was very helpful to see which graphic card used.
Side note, it appeared that my internet access became slower, not sure if it was related to the new driver (I dont think so), but will test out Chrome to see if the results are the same with IE 8.Attached Files:

how are you overclocking ntune or using rivatuner or ati tools or evga precision
-
Is there a fix for the Dawn of War 2 issue? Maybe buried in a thread somewhere?
While someone begins to flame me...i'm gonna use that awesome search button. -
Internet issue is probably provider side. All's ok now. Confirm that optimus is switching to nvidia everytime I start the games.
-
So do people use these or the other new ones 258.69 (with a modded inf) ?
-
I recommend these.
-
I just tried the new Nvidia beta driver and I still have crappy FPS in warcraft, im going to give these a go
-
@Nautis
Alright, keep that in mind.
@Rahzer
Let us know, and thanks for posting. -
Warcraft performance is a little better though I am starting to think that the problem that I and others are experiencing in Warcaft isn't the GPU / Drivers. I am starting to think it is a throttling problem with the CPU because the FPS fluctuate up and down. Also I know for sure that the nVidia card is running so this is my conclusion thus far.
-
So shut off turbo boost and crank the fsb up...this is what resolved the GTA IV issues...
-
Just Cause 2 crashes on start on both the new beta drivers and Nautilus's drivers. Since that's my biggest pick up and play game at the moment it's back to the stock drivers for me..
-
-
-
I'm on these new beta drivers too. Have the same DoW issues, but portal runs perfect. Downloading lfd2, force unleased and RE5 now, and will see if they work.
-
Should one uninstall the current 257.21 drivers first, and then apply the 257.40 beta drivers?
-
-
How do you download them?
I went to the link, downloaded the download center it was called opend it up and says "no download to install"?
Tried adding it to my download list after signing up and it still doesnt appear? -
Anyone interested in adding to the Dawn of War II thread i started on Relic...please do so. Although it might not be Relic's issue, we might get to the bottom of it and even help Nvidia out as well.

This is getting ridiculous. I install the new Beta drivers so that Transformers works. Now I find out that Just Cause 2 won't load. Reverted back down to dell drivers. Just Cause 2 works but Transformers doesn't now.
-
-
Try disabling Powermizer, it could your throttling on your gpu.
-
bah, i agree this is getting ridiculous. all i want is flawless wow! i know its got the tech specs... -.-
almost starting to wish i would have gotten the r1, lol. -
I hope they fix the Fallout Bug! That game is made for a notebook like this IMO. They have a few months before New Vegas releases... plus
Obisdian < deadlines. -
-
Just installed the beta drivers and they seem to be worse than the original drivers i had on my laptop. Tried playing fallout 3 and Killing Floor and both had a huge amount of mouse lag for some reason. With the original drivers FO3 would freeze after like 5 minutes but killing floor was playing very smooth, ill probably go back until something new comes out.
-
do i need to uninstall the current drivers before i install the new ones?

I updated the beta and now all my games crash shortly after a few minutes. Eve online was runnning fine before the update. It was displaying Intel HD graphic under the display info. I updated the beta and it changed to nvidia n335 but after only a few seconds it crashes to desktop. Borderlands and l4d2 both crash when they start to load from steam.
I had it running the i7 overclocked to 154mhz but I changed that to disabled with the same problem. I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled just the normal ones but the same problem. Any ideas? -
we need a new modded .inf for the 257.30, P01 drivers on the dell site? i cant get it to install. Should i go back to the 257.21 verde? just got back from some vacation & and after reading the through threads am not sure what to do lol.
I got 257.30 to installbut it still doesnt see all the .exe files for steam games. still can right click to run with NV though. -
You do not need a modded inf for those dell drivers, they work fine here.
Make sure you completely uninstall and clean up registry of the old drivers before installing them. -
how do i clean my registry? on my desktop i uninstall the drivers reboot into safemode use driversweeper to remove all Nvidia stuff including physx reboot & install new drivers. Never had issues on my desktop.
Also the new dell driver wouldnt install w/o the modded inf. it gave me the usual errors about the card. -
