So I've had my M11xR2 for about 2 years now, and whenever I play anything.. Tf2, Bf3, CS:GO, and even League of legends my FPS will take random drops down to 10-18 FPS for about 30-50 seconds then jump back up. I've tried updated my Nvidia Drivers. I did a full system Respawn and installed all new drivers, but still nothing is working. Anyone know how to fix this?

check your temps, the cpu and gpu throttle back if they reach a certain temperature. This is especially possible if you havn't opened it up and cleaned it in the last 2 years. Download and install HWmonitor and leave it open while you play and let up know what your max temperature was.

After a 48 min match of League, here is what CUPID told me:

    Value | Min | Max
    PHC: 75C (165F) | 59C (138F) | 76C (168F)
    GMCH: 62C (143F) | 55C (131F) | 81C (177F)

    i7:
    Core#0: 56C (134F)| 47C (116F) | 82C (179F)
    Core#2: 65C (147F) | 59C (138F) | 87C (188F)

    Temperatures:
    Assembly: 45C (133F)| 39C (102F) | 45C (113F)
    Air Flow: 45C (133F) | 36C (102F) | 45C (113F)

Dunno if that means anything is wrong or not..

Not sure if anyone has any answers, but I'm just going to self bump this in hopes I get a solution.

There was something to disable the powermizer MVIDIA Powermizer Manager I think. It was some time ago and I'm not sure if this still works/is-needed.

other things are to use the BIOS with the increaced GPU voltage

I have tried throttlestop, and to no avail. Still get major FPS drops.

I stopped using TS altogether as I found that it doesn't really help with the FPS.

What I did was I turn off the powermizer (you can google nvidia powermizer and turn it off) and I install HWinfo64 to ramp up my fan speed. The temp will go up insanely high (90+ region) since I turned the powermizer off, but the ramped-up fan speed will keep it in that region to make sure that it won't shut down due to overheating.

Just get a small fan to blow the laptop from the side and lift the laptop for 3-5cm or so, the temp will hover around 80+ if you do this plus the above.

    Cheers

Hmm, interesting. I presume that if temps do go a bit too high, the comp just crashes, keeping the GPU safe right?

Yeah. The laptop wil shutdown automatically. What I did today to avoid the GPU overheat was I crank the fan to max speed right from the beginning by using the manual setting instead of waiting for the right speed to kick in at the set temp if I used the custom auto option. I only use the software when I am playing games though. It does sound like an aeroplane engine. Whoosh~

Get yourself a cheap usb fan, direct it to the left side of the laptop and you'll be fine.

Kepp in mind that I am pushing the hardware to its limits. This is like my last resort since I already tried replacing the thermal paste etc but to no avail.

even with the New Nvidia Drivers, and Throttlestop FPS shot down to 16 in a game of league of legends at least 4 times.

Have you checked your GPU temps? You can use HWinfo64 or GPU-Z, it's all in the guide I posted above. Temperature is be a very important factor when determining FPS loss causes.

Blow compressed air into the rear airvents and vaccum the bottom vent... come on, this is elementary.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll see if I can create some more advanced content.

Not everybody feels comfortable re-pasting and it's really simple to dust off the vents. Besides, it may decrease temperatures considerably depending on how often the user gives maintenance to his computer (from none to very often).

To tell you the truth, it is not that simple. Doesn't mean if it works for you, it works for everyone else. ;) I already did all of the cleaning, re-pasting and dismantling the laptop. Simply cleaning the air vent does not cut it for me. The temp still shot to either 75 and throttled the GPU or 100+ and shut down the laptop.
