    Hi Guys,

Just had my M11xR2 last week and was tweaking and OC the little thing. Was able to get decent CPU OC at 162 plus throttlestop. Ran prime95 for 30-45 mins with no hiccups. Next on my list was to OC the GPU. Max stable OC i got was 565/1356/925, ran furmark for 45 mins completed fine with no crash or hiccups. Also able to play on my CPU and GPU OC with SC2 and MOH, but when playing older games like COD MW, COD MW2, BFBC2, and FARCRY2, i get random hangups. Tried to remove GPU OC and reatain the CPU OC, worked like a charm. Any of you guys encounter the same issue? BTW I use EVGA Precision to OC the GPU. Not sure if its really because of the games i play or the EVGA app that is used to overclock, or maybe the Nvidia driver version I use.

Will Ntools or any other GPU OC application work better?

every driver has subtle different OCing capabilities usually +/- a few mhz but it could be more severe on some drivers.. thats why its usually recommended once you find a stable OC you knock it out down about 5-10 mhz.

You know running Furmark on your AW can void your warranty? I personally run FurMark/MSI Kombustor on all my desktop rigs, but won't run it on my AW because of the mobile cooling solution:

FurMark GPU and Performance Degradation - Alienware Forum - Alienware Club - Dell Community

The same explanation above is why I don't like pushing my CPU OC if it brings temps past 80C. You can hem-haw all you want about 100C thermal limit built-in protection. If you truly trust it, remove your heat sink and run your PC without it and let that thermal limit protect your CPU for a couple of weeks and see if it works.

A GPU memory clock of 925 seems pretty extreme for a GT335M.

Have you tried values around 850 for memory clock?

Those OC settings are insane. Impossible to get a stable performance in games with those. You need to tune down everything specially the shader clock. Also I think i do get less stable OCing with the 260.99 than i did with the previews drivers.

Does someone have stable OC values (and daily used) for the 335 ?

Hi THX5334, your also using 260.99? What program did you use to OC the GPU? EVGA Precision or other?

Just for kicks i did try it at 510(linked) with 850 mems, so far stable on all games. Was just wondering why other games like SC2 and MOH will give me higher OC. I remember MOH is a more demanding game than Farcry2 and COD MW and COD MW2.

I think I found the culprit. Found out that Farcry I was running is using DX9. On the setting tried using DX10, with and the hang-ups were gone when using the highest OC. So issue seems to be on DX9 with the new Drivers plus OC.

Anyone else encountered an issue with Running higher clocks for the GPU on a DX9 game? Got me thinking to try the 258.96 driver see if it is more stable on the DX9 games.

I think you may be on to something here. I tried Lost Planet 2 with DX9, and it crashes even with slight overclock (500/1200/800).
Having problems with running it in DX11 so far, so if I get it working I'll let you know.

Confirmed. I was able to run RE5 benchmark in DX10 mode, and it's stable with 550/1320/880. I guess this driver is not very good with DX9. Hopefully Nvidia fixes it at some point.

That's interesting. I'm very annoyed that some games run really good when the GPU is OCed but other games freeze with the slightless OCing. Steam games for example are not stable with high OCing.

For a quick solution create profiles on EVGA precision with the default settings and a mild OC and a high OC so you can switch profiles anytime depending on what game you are playing(DX9 or DX10). I just noticed that Far Cry is much better on DX10 compared to DX9.

Yeah, I just tried running 3DMark with the usual GPU OC but after a minute or so the GPU went into safe mode..
