Ok so i am running GTA all happy because L4D2 works really nice. Then i go to look at my grapgics and it says 202/54mb for graphics. Saying that i need a better card blahblahblah. All the settings are at low and its running well, but none of the visuals in the game will appear, as if im running on air. And for some reason its saying that my graphics cant handle anything more than the VERY minimum of the game, if even that, by me saying 54mb. Basically 54mb is all that my computer is giving the game for graphics, when i SHOULD have like 800-1000?? I mean the dam laptop has 1gig video ram...HELP PLEASE :( I really wanna play GTA4...

EDIT: I'm using the optimus GPU state viewer and it says that NVidea is running the game, but still same results. HELP!!

    Try older/newer/different/ modded drivers?
    What driver are you running?
    What OS are you on?

    (just for reference!)

Maybe a problem with both optimus and the state viewer, cause that sounds really odd.

That being said, I don't own an R2...
    Getting R1 tomorrow, can't wait!

I had the problem too with stock drivers, but once I updated to the new Dell Beta ones the RAM was reported correctly.

After installing the new drivers, remember to disable turboboost in your bios for GTA4 and other games that take advantage of multi-core processing. This way you will increase your frame rate by 15-18fps.

ok, one problem i have with installing new drivers is that i keep getting an error message telling me how none of them work with my hardware. thing is, my "hardware" is the 1gig Nvidea 335m like in all the m11x laptops...soooooooo how do they NOT work with it? Maybe i'm updated as much as i can be i guess? helpp :(

Download the 257.68 driver from the Nvidia website then use winrar or similar to unzip it. Download Nautis'modded inf file and replace the original inf file with said modded one. works a treat. Also download the newest physx drivers from nvidia and the newest Intel HD drivers. You will have GTA4 (patch 1.07) running @ native rez all on high running at a solid 30fps and up - (vehicle density etc set @20)

So far we've discovered through trial and error that only games that really utilize multi-core CPU's benefit from disabling turbo boost. (usually sandbox style games)

Disabling it can hurt performance of games that rely on a single core process. (turbo boost kicks upto 2.8GHz on a single core if your lucky enough to be able to O/C your FSB to 166Mhz)

okay...ha that kinda makes some sense but i still have no clue which games will require what as far as multicore or singlecore. :/

There is NO reason to disable turbo boost.. GTA is prob one the worst coded games for PC and cannot be used as a benchmark for how turbo boost affects your cpu in everything else. Just making sure people understand that. Turbo boost is a clever and very great feature giving you the best performance on both single and multi core apps in 99 of 100 cases.

You have to use the INF in the first post for the Nvidia one, and I get the same problem with the Intel one...
