I turned my m11x R2 on at a McDonald's and used their wifi, after about 10 minutes it suddenly shut down, I didn't really think anything of it just got back in my car and continued driving. Got to my cousins house a couple days later and it is now unable to even get to the start screen. This happened 2 months ago and I just recently came home. I have my windows 7 disc that came with the laptop but unfortunately I lost key. My question is if I bought another version of Windows 7 do you think that would fix this problem? Thanks a lot.

If you reinstall with teh windows cd that alienware included you shouldnt need to input a cd key and it should already be activated on your alienware. is it possible to use your respawn?

I'll hook up the external disc drive and try with it right now. I never set up a flash drive with respawn unfortunately but if I can fix it I'm doing that right away! I can get to the BIOS screen and try to start in safe mode and such as well but to no avail. Thanks for responses I'll update once I try this out.

if you mash F8 on bootup does bootloader come up at all? try restore option then, to factory conditions, or choose alienrespawn as it can run from backup partition and restore the imagine from recovery partition.

This is a REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY long shot, but if your attempts fail at even getting any sort of screen to come up, maybe you'll want to consider opening up the bottom and taking out the wi-fi card? I can't imagine anything over wifi being so hard on a card that it simply shorts out, but given you have an unusual situation.... and it can't hurt to give it a shot to get your laptop back.
