Looks like my Dell account manager was right. Ordering my m11xR1 replacement now. :)

Finally I have gigabit! Quite useful for a work laptop...

Is it some kind of meter to create thread on every piece of m11x r3?

My apologies. I hadn't seen anything mentioning an actual release. I did check first.

m11x still having a weak CPU. For small factor laptops is the best choice, but m14x is far away...

I'm actually largely fine with the r1 CPU. It's not amazing, and I do big processing stuff on either VMs (for work), or on a separate desktop box for home. A bump in general specs, new battery, working hinge, only thing I'd crave is a matte screen and a higher resolution...

And everyone said I was crazy for saying starting price was 1,300.

Stock on Dell Australia is 1,499, which is basically 1,600 in USD. Woohoo another brownie point for me

You can't compare US and non-US prices. Generally the US price is significantly lower than the non-US price, in part because the US price doesn't include taxes (which can be quite high) and also because manufacturers like to screw people outside the US for some reason.

I would guess somewhere in the $1000-$1200 range as a starting price in the US.

2GB of Vram on the GT540 is so pointless it isn't even worth mentioning.

Unless Alienware can pull something out of the hat with the 540 it will offer only a meagre GPU upgrade from the GT335m.

They offer 1.5 GB or 3 GB on the GT555M (M14x), or 1 GB or 2 GB on the GT540M. I also wonder what is the point? Extra VRAM doesn't make these cards faster, as far as I know. Only helps to keep a bit more textures in the memory... but 1 GB usually enough already for that.

same here, i got my R2 this month, i thought i had the top of the range specs with i5 4GB RAM, 250GB SATA DRIVE.

If i can turn back time i would definately have gone for the M14X instead of the M11x R3. I Cant wait for the reviews of M14x.
