So when I first got this new battery a charge would last me a good 6-7hrs just typical browsing but it's now dropped down to 3 hours. What can I do to help the battery life and or make it last longer again?

How old is it? What is the batt wear %?

To some degree this is expected. If you just got the system and batt shows excessive degradation the pursue warranty/support for solution.

Laptop batteries generally get 300~ charges before you start noticing less juice.

If you're under the 300, it could be that you have several applications running in the background that you're not noticing. Examine your start-up apps.

Shutting off Alien FX can also contribute to about 30 minutes of the overall battery power.

My money is on start up apps hogging your battery life ;)
