From what i understand my r2 will overheat (game will freeze, sometimes audio still works, cant seem to reopen the application without a full restart)

Since im monitoring with MSI afterburner ill notice the gpu temp will get significantly hotter during a freeze. Im assuming the OC is unstable and this is causing my issue. I cant seem to pinpoint it though. Even the slightest tweak OC will eventually cause a crash.

I have a brand new i7, 4gb cpu OCed to 166 and using TS
(I tried testing with cpu OC disabled and it still "overheats")

Before this i7 i had a m11 c2d and a different i7. With what little time i spent with them, couldn't recall a OCing issue.

Im using the second to latest nvidea driver, i think its the 260.99 but could be wrong. I tried a number of different drivers and eventually run into an issue... What gives?

It's entirely possible that your GPU isn't ever going to overclock well or at all and if so there's not a whole lot you can do about. Not all GPUs are going to OC well.

If you're experienced with tearing into your own hardware then you could see if redoing the TIM has any impact on it. Before that, see if dropping your CPU OC down a few steps helps.

I was able to OC my gpu pretty high around 550 (or slightly higher)when testing with 3dmark but when I went to play Mass Effect 2 I think I could only go to 500, otherwise it crashes within 30 minutes.

Overclocking a laptop GPU is like overclocking any component. There is no guarantee that you will get a great overclock (or any overclock at all).

The only guarantee you have with any CPU or GPU is that it will run at its rated stock speeds. Any clock speed above that is all luck-of-the-draw.

is this happening in many of your games, or just one? what are your temps? if it is a temp issue it may be fixed with replacing the TIM. that would void whatever waranty you have tho.

what speed are you overclocking to?

I tried playing without a CPU oc and a minimal gpu OC but the issue persists.

    I tried a couple different combination's... here are two i saved 500/1200/830 and 540/1296/850

Also, a little off topic...but does anyone notice a pinkish hue around the "esc, f1,f2,f3 keys" basically i can notice it when i have my alienfx set to white. The "alienware" logo especially is noticeable.

    Search friend... ;)

This is normal and expected. The LEDs have to mix colors to so they will always be somewhat off. There is never going to be a true white representation. Also, each key does not have its own LED - that is why you will notice some very minor breaks in the illumination (space bar is a common area where this is very easy to see).

Thats too bad, the white scheme if my favorite.. Not pink :/

I also noticed, that my command center seems to be broken. As soon as i open it everything is black besides where i run my mouse over... If i press a key or click the mouse it was debug but freeze frame alll over again... kind of hard to explain

Verify that you're using the very latest version of CC. If you are then try a reinstall.

Word of caution - do NOT install the version of CC that comes on your Dell disc. Once you've updated to a newer version - ever - going back to an older version can brick your M11x at which point it will need to have the motherboard replaced.
