Ok so I just got my alienware m11x and I noticed a few problems

    1. Control panel freezes and I have to restart "windows explorer"

    2. somehow the Nvida graphics card got uninstalled and none of the drivers see it, when I switch graphics it stays black except every so often its fine

So my question is, whats wrong and can I fix it without getting dell involved, this is my second dell computer and the last one involved seeing a dell tech every month due to my dell xps 1530, as nice as they are I don't want a repeat of that

    M11xR1 or M11xR2?????

Does sound like someone has been busy installing or upgrading software. :D
If, and this is only if, you have upgraded/installed software you may be able to recover your last restore points before this all went pear-shape.

If you opened the box and haven't been busy modifying software and this is what you got from Alienware/Dell (doubtful) then just contact Alienware/Dell.

What nVidia driver do you have? Original one installed by Dell?

When you are able to, on the desktop, right click on the nVidia control panel and click on the info icon and read off the nvidia version.

So the control panel is just something that went bad at one point? When I try to use the NVIDIA control panel (located in the Appearance & Personalization) it says I have to reinstall the driver, I (probably temporarily) got the GT to show up again (I turned off switchable graphics) I may have fixed it, i will post when I know

EDIT: ...nope still bad, it was fine a second ago after I installed the driver but after I restarted the computer it was gone o_O

EDIT EDIT: in BIOS I switched the graphics to discrete and the video card showed up, I have the R1. I think I might reformat
