Hey guys just got finished playing through some of the Mass Effect 3 demo and I thought I would report some of my findings.
First off: Many people seem to be having trouble starting the game due to crashes (Mass Effect 3 Cannot be Played at This Time). I right clicked the game in origin and did an install repair. It didn't find any problems but it seemed to fix the issue.
Anyways, onto the game. It runs very well even with stock settings (I can only speak for the r2 but I can't imagine the results for the other two models being wildly different). While running the game at 1366x768 I got frames of 50-60 outside of combat and 30+ in combat (this is without AA and Dynamic Shadows). Turning on Throttle Stop and OCing the GPU and CPU results in a slight increase of fps if you really need them. The game is more than playable with AA and Dynamic Shadows turned on (30 fps+). The demo is short but the game looks like it will meet everybody's expectations. The set pieces are wonderful, the dialogue is solid, and the combat seems to have been tightened up a bit.
I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks and if you have any suggestions for improved performance please share them below!

Sweet thanks for the report!

I've just finished playing the demo.
The game itself is fantastic, even though it is clearly an early build as some of the textures are quite on the low resolution side.
Performance-wise it runs great. I'm getting 57fps during non combat and 48 during combat.
Mind you that i'm running everything on high except for AA which is off and AF4X.
Can't wait to play the final version.
cheers! -
Done, it works now, runs great, I´m surprised, 50-60 fps in my R2, if this thing have Controller support I might buy it on it, if not, in my Xbox...
Another edit, now with a little video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azbypNLXSYA -
My R2 with stock GPU runs on max settings smoothly, always above 30 frames/sec, mostly on 40.

Keyboard and mouse... i can't imagine it being more comfortable, or that you react/move quicker with a controller... just silly.
And no, i will not spoil anything. I refuse to play the demo. Gonna rock the full game, until then i rather wait... anticipation would keel me after playing few missions and knowing i wont get more.
Also, all ME games had really crap textures... ME1 looked like a game from 2000 thanks to its really lame textures... same with ME2, its not great... kept going to options to check if settings are at max... it is such a shame as well... though someone made a texture pack for ME1 and ME2 now... right after i finished replaying them... so yeah... -
Mass Effect is not a FPS, is a TPS, and I only play FPS or RTS with Mouse/Keyboard, the rest of the games, controller IMO....
And sure, you shoot in it, but the game has nothing to worry if you aim with a controller or a mouse -
My r3 i3 1.3ghz 8gb 540m 43 to 60fps unreal engine 3 same like ME1 and ME2
looks like dont need mutch -
Just had a quick run through of the demo, Looks pretty good so far, run's like a damned dream (I was getting between 40 and 60 fps) on the M11xR1 at native resolution (AA off Dynamic shadows off)
I grabbed some screen caps if anyone wants to see them (nothing spoilery) -
it seems to be running as smooth as ME2 on my R2. it does go below 30fps during a cinematic but not long enough for it to be unplayable. this might mean my PC should be able to handle it fine

While I'm getting solid enough performace once I disabled origin overlay and ran the game in a borderless window, I'm getting horrible shadows, like in the scene introducing Ashely/Kadein there entire face is black, not dark, pitch black. I've added an image so you can see what I mean.
I also get some problems with the multiplayer aspects, the white base background flickers on and off depending on the angle, and the ladders go black/textureless when you climb them (as does some walls). Also the viper (lucky drop) is completely textureless (you can see the background swirling around).
On top of that the MP crashes a lot, last night I had about 10 crashes where the game just freezes.Attached Files:

How are you on multiplayer on the demo?

In order to do this you need 2 people to link, one to setup and recruit the other. If you open the recruit program without being recruited, you can't subsiquently be recruited, so be careful.
If you want I can recruit you, you'll need to pm me your facebook page (I'll have to friend you), then link your origin account to it. -
It says you have chosen not to recover messages. Want to pm me and I'll respond?

Seems PMing isn't on this forum.
Oh well.

This thread has a number of people who are recruiting, probably your best bet as I'm about to head to bed and the mp unlocks tomorrow. -
Hey guys I got on multiplayer! If anyone wants to add me so we can play my origin name is orangeplease
See you on the battlefield! -
i cant seem to get this running smoothly, it is whitelisted, and regardless of settings the menu runs at 5 fps. in game is worse, i have a i5 with throttlestop and a 166 oc cpu, no gpu clock, latest nvidia drivers..
Me 2 ran like butter ..... kinda saddened this is playing up
edit : just afer i posted i rechecked my whitelist, it is me3 but there is another file in the folder that seems to work, getting 30 fps in the menu now -
I played the demo on my Xbox 360 because the game will be kinect-enabled. That makes the game even cooler. Have to try it how it runs on my R2 though. Still not sure which version I want =)
