You don't need to clean chipset drivers in the context of switching video drivers.

The M11xR2 Problem/Technical Question thread for New Owners thread should be left to fall. No on really uses it and this thread would answer maybe 25% of everyone's questions.

@Kopicha, could you please post the latest intel HD drivers along with those Nvidia drivers dude? This would be the ideal thread as Optimus obviously needs the intel drivers to work and its always high up in the forum even if it isn't stickied.

OK so this is starting to annoy me, I try to uninstall my current drivers but it does not fully uninstall them. then when I install a new driver it doesn't install correctly.

Are you doing a safeboot/driver sweep between uninstall and new driver install?

well I follow teh steps and try to install but after I uninstall it it still appears on the installed programs list, then I restart it and Uninstall it again, then I restart it in safe mode and do the driver sweep, then I restart again and install but this time none of the warning messages come up and when I try to play BFBC2 the game then doesn't play correctly. I ran the .79 before fine but now it does not work correctly so I need to go back and Install the standard drivers again

uninstall your drivers first from your control panel. reboot the machine once. to let the uninstallation process complete. then reboot again boot into safe mode. rurn driver sweeper and clean out everything that are Nvidia related and reboot. On the safe side you may also want to try download Ccleaner and do a registry clean up after running all the previous stuffs. you can google for Ccleaner download link. once all done then try installing the 189.79 again.

When you do that first reboot to complete the uninstall how do you keep windows from finding and installing drivers automatically? If it’s grabbing them from the Internet I guess I can turn off my router but if what if it’s getting them locally? Do you just quickly reboot and hope it hasn’t started the “auto” driver install?

I’m asking because I’ve also had problems with this as well. I finally gave up trying to clean it up and did a full reinstall but I’d hate to have to do that everytime.

I've never had Windows 7 on my M11x (factory Home Premium or fresh install of Ultimate) automatically reinstall the driver after that first reboot. It detects the driverless video adapter as a Standard VGA Display Adapter. At that point I reboot into safe mode for a Driver Sweep, reboot normally and install the new driver.

Maybe it's windows update doing it? If that is the case I guess I could just turn it off during the time I'm messing with drivers.

after rebooting into safe mode. just let windows do the installation of the card/driver its fine. when its done simply go to your device manager and uninstall the hardware there. then run your driver sweep and reboot you will be fine.

This is all done before the safe mode part. I was just going from what someone posted about rebooting one time back into "normal mode" Windows to let the uninstall complete. Then they say to go into safe mode. That’s where this all stemmed from.

you dont have to. upon removing the drivers when it ask for reboot you can boot right into safe mode during that reboot rather than having to go into the "normal"to confirm the removal

Then I am confused by your original statement that I replied to. From page 8 (Didn't realize it was you that had suggested it until just now)

Did I misread or misunderstand your instructions?

no you didnt misread. that should be the right way in most case. i am trying not to make the steps too complicated especially for those who are not so IT literate you see. I am trying to put things as general and as easy as it can be since not all can understand when things go complicated. So that step is completely normal. But now I am just sharing with you the in depth steps you can take. Or alternate step if that sound better to you. Do understand there is no one statement that fits for everyone.

So basically after the reboot if you go straight into safe mode windows will still attempt to install the missing hardware that you just remove the drivers. it should still detect the GT335M. Let it do its work. After couple of minutes once confirm it has already install it. Just go to you Device Manager then right click on the Nvidia GT335M and click uninstall. It may ask you if you want to reboot. Just click no. Then go ahead and run driver sweeper and reboot after the process is done.
