Battery Life is the same, i havent noticed any differences.

Performance is great. it cut about 20 secs off my boot time, once the hard drive learns the process. And it also makes programs load up faster. loading screens for games also load up faster for the ones you use most often

The only problem i had, was it kinda bugs me that the hard drive takes time to learn your unique computer usage before the performance is noticable, but it learned everything within a couple hours. all in all i loved it, and it was deffinitely worth the 100$

I just installed mine this past weekend and I LOVE IT!I agree with everything sparky said.Boot time from button press to desktop is ~32 sec.I did a fresh install from the OEM disk so I have no bloatware installed.Combined with Chrome browsing the web is a joy.I didnt see much of a difference in gaming load times though but thats nothing major..I started with a base model M11x and did the upgrades on my own ie.8gb of Gskill ram and Intel 6300N card and finally,my Momentus XT.Still well under a new(I got a Dell outlet deal)price with better specs.Again, definitely worth the $100 I paid.Get one!! :)

I've had mine in for a month and a half or so; no problems at all, don't know about battery life since I am always plugged in anyway. Programs load quickly and boot time is great.

I'm about the same as alienowl above, no problems and no noticiable impact or benefit to battery life. But a VERY noticeable boost in cold boot time, restart and resume times which is primarily why I bought it.

Supposedly, it 'learns' your most used or launched programs and if I'm understanding this correctly, adds them to the flash memory part of the drive for faster launch times. If this isn't right then it's a placebo effect because I swear my main browser, steam and a few others cold launch as if they were resuming from being minimized to the task bar, lol

With some of the deals I'm seeing (and paid) for this drive, I don't know why you wouldn't get one... unless you could afford a decent size (256gb+) SSD.

Just got my M11x-R2 this afternoon. I'm about to do the disk swap. Seems like it doesn't have any bloatware so probably just cloning the drive using Seagate Discwizard.

    1) No battery difference noticable.
    2) Shaves off about 15-20% off of commonly used apps / bootup
    3) Only con: Occasional ticking when it works installing but it only is noticeable if you are listening for it or its very quiet.

I'd highly recommend it for this computer. Especially if you need space or cannot afford SSDs

Got my M11x yesterday and installed the XT last night. Seagate Discwizard was a pain in the rear. I had to go through the process a couple of times and it finally hung on creating the MBR and when I booted it said I had to repair the Windows install. Fortunately I did a Respawn backup as soon as I pulled it out of the box and ended up restoring off USB flash drive... but I did end up losing the WoW preload. Not sure what happened... maybe because it was loaded to Public. Odd.

A fair bit of difference, but is definitely not an SSD. I'm using a Vertex 2 now. The XT has a tendency to wind down, then wind back up and begin clicking. It's probably on its last legs.
