I was thinking today, and the best thing for it about me is the speakers.
They beat even my G73jh, and come close to my Turtle Beach x41's.
VERY high quality sound from AW.

For me battery life, its really the only reason i bought this laptop. Everything else that it comes with it is extra candy
-
For me, it would have to be the combination of small form factor and gaming capabilities.
-
gameing, i do a games design course and its nice to play the games you are attempting to make.
and other games such as L4D2 on ultra high settings, always a bonus
-
mobility. gaming.
-
Mobile gaming, but also it's a good general purpose computer. The Dell warranty support is also a major key...
-
For me it's the Q key... I don't know why... it just impresses me.
-
Amount of power in this little mobile thing.
-
I like the pretty lights
-
The bottom access plate screw on the left hand side near the name plate. That thing is solid.
-
That it actually got released without anyone realising that the construction of the hinges is total rubbish.
-
i love the lighted alien eyes on the back of the lid ..... among the many other things
-
the hinges
...jk...The look of it to be honest (in lunar shadow that is)
-
Size matters. 285.7mm x 233.3mm x 32.7mm
Any notebook I buy must be under 12" wide.
I have chicken arms and can't carry anything over 2Kg.
HDMI, DisplayPort and three USB 2.0
Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11n WiFi
6 Channel analogue audio or HDMI compressed audio.
A GPU that makes pimp my ride look like a TV show.
Windows 7 costs a fifth of the total price on an M11xR1 purchased alone.
I can play two 720p DVDs at once. Damn, no audio splitting!
And I got a discount on my M11xR1 of $30¹ for buying two 24" IPS monitors for $300¹ (2 for $300¹) OK, refurbished, but can't grumble. Dell is so much better at maths than I am
Even with an SLG chipset someone may find a way to extend the clock out to over 2.0Ghz. +++++rep for that person!
And the fact that after 10 months of ownership you can still get excited by removing the protective covering over the status light strip
That must be one of the highlights
¹ Prices loosely converted to US dollars. -
so much to list...
battery life
gaming ability
thin/light/small
runs cool even when at the max
green lights
great build quality
easy access panel like my SXPS
NOT chicklet style keyboard
and much much more. -
battery life and gaming ability in a small size is what I was looking for. Not to mention price. At $499 I couldn't ask any better.
-
Having a laptop that sits on the airline tray table with room left over for useing a wireless mouse.
Knowing that 4 months after I bought mine there are people buying the same config for $300.00 less.
love the size and the battery life.
The most impressive thing however is the complete silence from the manufacture about the hinge problem. -
-
LOL - you guys are a trip....
-
love the lights ;p
-
i've seen demo units and the lights are nice, the form factor is nice.....it's just those damn hinges that are keeping me from getting one.
-
-
I'll see how it goes in a few months. I'll only go for the R2 if....
a) no R3 date has been given
b) the R3 release date is close to or after my US trip (i.e. August-September)
Looking forward to checking out the west coast -
-
Other than that I found the size/power/price ratio of the M11x quite impressive. I like the design as well. -
I'm not too concerned about the hinge. If/when it happens I'll just reinforce the heck out of it.
-
The most impressive thing about the R2 laptop is ThrottleStop. lol
-
Like the way Alien team design the power button.
-
Name plate. portability. gaming. performance. lights, yea lights!
-
I really should have let Dell do their repair, but I was impulsive and since I have built all my desktops I don't fear opening machines. Considering their small form factor and range of circumstances you take one around in, I think a two or three year Complete Care is simply vital in this case. Who knows, you might even get a full replacement with Sandy Bridge at some point
PS: I will likely sell the R2 for an R3 when the time comes, so if you're interested then let me know or watch the selling forum where I sold my M15x-R2 last year. -
I feel so lucky that I have no hinge issues so far.
As long as my hinges stay "healthy", I am in love with this laptop.
I am impressed at how this little thing can play heavy games and its high quality audio system.
AlienFX are awesome as well !
The only thing that bothers me is how I worry everytime I open my laptop.
I have been following the tip of opening only up to 95~100 degrees in order to keep the hinge stay "healthy".
I hope that Dell comes up with a new hinge design so I won't have to worry. -
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
How badly Alienware's QA fails. They better have somebody open and close the lid of five production models personally 3,000 times on every new M11x revision.
There's actually a lot to be impressed with on the M11x, but I'd have to say how much they crammed into a frame that's smaller in person than the oversized 11.6" laptop I was expecting. ULV processors that have room to overclock without making the fans go crazy, a 335M, and an 8-cell battery in a frame that fits in a bag I bought for my iPad. -
I was also amazed that I have no hinge issues (so-far! *Ace Ventura/Shatner impersonation) given all the posts on the issue. I really do like the overall performance despite the somewhat limited CPU and 335m bottleneck. I too like the prett- I mean, uh...manly, handsome lights! That are cool. And stuff. :3
-
The GPU, and battery life. Everything else is moot.
Most impressive thing about the M11x?
