Hey guys. Before my M11x keeps cool at around 44c normally.

But now? It climbs up in the low 50's!

It only returns to the normal 44c when I lift up my laptop from the table!

So how could I get this fixed? I think the problem is that the fan isn't getting enough air from the bottom of the laptop.

..... I'm tired so I'll just state the obvious... Either a) Get a cooler or b) raise the back of the laptop at an angle to allow more airflow.

Oh and c) get better thermal paste.
and of course d) those are normal temperatures..

    Goodnight.

Oh? Alright thanks. I just fixed it anyways.

The problem was that the rubber stubs on the top left and right corners of my laptop were gone (yep I'm that rough with my m11x).

So I just made new ones and Super glued them on there.

:) Now I'm back to 44c during normal use, and low 50's when playing ME2 (Before it jumped to high 70s and 80s).

You can also run your power cord underneath the back side of your laptop in order to raise it higher. On its own, there's not a lot of clearance for the fan intake. Raising it gives it a little more breathing room.

i got two rubber stoppers from a hobby store and used them on the back of the computer to raise it up a bit maybe i'll get two more for the front but the back is where the heat exits via the fan

44 during normal use seems a bit high? I am not sure if that is the average temp but mine never reaches higher than 35-36.

Aye, I disassembled my laptop and replaced the cheap Dell thermal goo with some Arctic Silver. Pretty happy with the results and I would recommend everyone do it.

I think you're the first person who has reported that replacing the TIM on the M11x actually had any positive effect. What were your before and after temps? How long has AS had to cure?

Arctic Silver takes like weeks to cure right? So you wont see the real results for a while.

I replaced the stock thermal with AS5 (approx 80 hours ago) and have already seen 3 degrees drop at full load but that was only in the last few hours... prior to that I had seen no improvement.

Still burning it in now with Prime95

Woah! I've never thought of that. The normal temperature did change- she's at 42c now. She also cools up faster.

Yeah, I thought of that too. But it was midnight when I realized my rubber stubs were gone and I just got SC2. Lol, so emergency crafting was required.

Oh. Well it IS summer here in CA. So maybe its the weather?

I'll take into consideration doing this. Lol. Thanks for the info.
