My M11x R2 has been super slow lately, bootups are slower than normal, certain programs just won't run, etc. I've defragged my HDD I still dunno what's wrong. An example of something not running is Minecraft, 2 days ago it ran fine, however now it loads and says something about the Java binary, I've tried everything I can and it still gives me that message, sometimes Minecraft will work but it'll be super slow and stop for a bit then go then immediately stop. I seriously need help, any help would be appreciated.

There is no "magic" answer. Especially without more information on what's slow. Just saying my computer is slow does absolutely nothing to help us figure out the problem.

My recommendation would be to reinstall Windows, or restore from recovery.

Google Malwarebytes, and do a scan with it. Could be some sort of malware or something, hard to say without many details. You might also want to uninstall all instances of Java and let it reload.

We all know the M11x has a slow boot time HOWEVER my boot up takes about a minute and a half to get to the log in screen, then another minute to actually log in, Adobe Premiere is a program that ran beautifully on my machine up until a month ago when it started being slow, wouldn't allow me to import clips, etc. I've reinstalled the programs; no luck, as for reinstalling the OS I don't have an external disk drive so I can't really do much about that considering I'm broke.

I'd start by defragging the HDD. Then hit the start menue and type "msconfig" and uncheck and programs that you don't need on startup. Then I would hit the start menu and type "services" and you can set any service you don't need to either disabled, or manual. Getting rid of all unneccessary items at startup should reduce your boot times.

No, when I bought it in October everything seemed to be running smoothly. Either way I'd still need an external disk drive.

use an 8GB flash drive to reinstall Win7.

as for the overall slowness, open up windows task manager and go to the processes tab. click on the CPU column to sort for the processes that are taking the most resources at the moment and let us know which .exes you find.

how full is your hard drive right now? if you get really, really low on free space (i wouldn't run a computer with less than 1-2 GB free), the entire computer gets slow.

what programs do you have in startup? open msconfig and check it out. i disable so many programs that default to start up when they get installed (iTunes, Acrobat, etc). removing them shortened my startup time by quite a bit.

my startup time is less than a minute to the face recognition screen, and another ~30 seconds upon recognizing my face to be able to open some programs. this is sometimes slower, depending on if i had installed windows updates or new software, but in general, it's pretty fast. also, i usually just put the computer to sleep, and awakening it is < 30 seconds as well.

You could also redownload Alienware Respawn from the dell website I think.
I used that to reformat my OS.

I always put it to sleep, the only thing that runs on start up is peerblock, I have 312GB of Hard drive space out of my 500.

Minecraft not starting might be a complete other issue all togeather.

Is minecraft run in a Java Applet? If so, dump the Java temp files.

Control Panel - Java - General Tab - Temp Int Files.

Did you check MSConfig? I would start there because if your system is loaded with a ton of programs that are checked to boot up and load at startup, that will kill startup time.

The only thing I have running at start up is peer block and it was fine before, I might just do a factory reset.

A little more info would help. This seems like a problem with your Java. Is your GPU overheating? Go here. Use the program to see how much heat your GPU/CPU is cooking up.

Do you happen to have a Windows Restore point from before it was acting up? They are created automatically before updates or new drivers are applied.

I don't think I do, I might just do the AlienRespawn factory reset. I'll let you know if the problems are still occuring.

Okay, clean install works fine, if any problems arise I'll be sad.
