Just picked up a new Alienware M11x with an I5 and I'm shocked at the WEI scores. Does this look normal ?

Were you plugged into power and on max performance settings when running the WEI test?
Try it again if not and see if the CPU score increases. I'm guessing that was the problem. -
Yes I was plugged in when I did the test and on max settings
-
Virus scans are taking forever on it much longer than they did on my R1. Could it be a driver issue ?
-
Is SpeedStep enabled? Could you check in Core Temp or CPU-z if the CPU is going up to it's normal speed?
-
check your settings i the BIOS, make sure the turbo mode is enabled. check your command center - alienfusion, makes sure you have the right power profile and check the processor power management
I have the R2 and my i5 checks 5.4 on stock BIOS settings. your machine should easily top that. -
Wait, how do you check turbo boost is enabled in bios?
Ive never done that! -
Speed step is enabled and CPU-Z is showing it going up to it's normal speed and temps are in the 51c range
-
WEI? run a 3d mark and compare the scores with the rest of m11x laptops

I did swap Hard drives from my R1 to R3 and was told that I wouldn't have any problems but I am wondering if I am going to have to do a clean install and that takes a long time to customize all my apps .
Is there a way to remove all the old drivers or find out what is slowing it down ? -
A clean install of windows would be the way to go.
-
-
takes 2hours for me... just cope/paste roaming folder and other app settings...
Anyways you should be getting 6.3 at calculations per seconds. it seems more like speed step isn't kicking in. -
Is there anyway to make speed step kick in ? Thanks again for your help

i have an m11x r3 i7 as well and i have 5.6 is there anyway to make my number higher?
-
-
Cheers mate! -
Wait, did you re-run the test after you installed your r1 harddrive? Otherwise it may still have the old info from the r1 drive there.
-
-
OK good, Just making sure, I have seen stranger things happen though.
-
-
In Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), are there four CPU graphs or just two?
-
guys am i the only one getting 5.6 score on my m11x r3 i7 sorry if it is normal but i think my numbers should be higher

Looks like two there, so maybe you need to run msconfig, go Boot-> Advanced options-> Number of processors; and/or go to Device Manager and uninstall/reinstall the CPU driver.
-
theres 4 in mine is that bad?
-
4 is normal. Having 2 means his PC still thinks he's using the older Core2.
-
oo thank u very much for your help i still have not gotten an answer thow i was wondering why i have a 5.6 rating should it be higher i have an i7 r3
-
I have tried updating the drivers and it's still showing 2 so I am thinking that this will now take a clean install

Thanks for all the help

Well, I had the same problem, but with me was because I went to ms config and marked 2 cpus on the advanced tab, so if is that your case, unmark it and then reboot and you'll be fine. In my case I thought it was a problem with turboboost You can check the topic if you like, it may help
