Just picked up a new Alienware M11x with an I5 and I'm shocked at the WEI scores. Does this look normal ?

Were you plugged into power and on max performance settings when running the WEI test?

Try it again if not and see if the CPU score increases. I'm guessing that was the problem.

Virus scans are taking forever on it much longer than they did on my R1. Could it be a driver issue ?

Is SpeedStep enabled? Could you check in Core Temp or CPU-z if the CPU is going up to it's normal speed?

check your settings i the BIOS, make sure the turbo mode is enabled. check your command center - alienfusion, makes sure you have the right power profile and check the processor power management

I have the R2 and my i5 checks 5.4 on stock BIOS settings. your machine should easily top that.

Speed step is enabled and CPU-Z is showing it going up to it's normal speed and temps are in the 51c range

Just go into the BIOS brah, you'll see it. On the R2 it was directly above the overclock setting.

I did swap Hard drives from my R1 to R3 and was told that I wouldn't have any problems but I am wondering if I am going to have to do a clean install and that takes a long time to customize all my apps .

Is there a way to remove all the old drivers or find out what is slowing it down ?

A clean install of windows would be the way to go.

That's what I was thinking but it takes about 26 hours of tweaking and installing to get things back to normal and I was thinking that somebody on here might know what is slowing things down . Thanks

takes 2hours for me... just cope/paste roaming folder and other app settings...

Anyways you should be getting 6.3 at calculations per seconds. it seems more like speed step isn't kicking in.

If you know what you're doing, it takes 30 mins to get a fresh Win 7 install on, and another 30 mins for tweaking and updating.

Wait, did you re-run the test after you installed your r1 harddrive? Otherwise it may still have the old info from the r1 drive there.

In Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), are there four CPU graphs or just two?

Looks like two there, so maybe you need to run msconfig, go Boot-> Advanced options-> Number of processors; and/or go to Device Manager and uninstall/reinstall the CPU driver.

4 is normal. Having 2 means his PC still thinks he's using the older Core2.

Break it down into individual scores when you are looking at the WEI - the overall WEI is the lowest subscore, which (in mine) is the Graphics = 5.5, which I would assume is the HD3000, as the GT540M would be the 6.6 for Gaming Graphics.
