Well I ordered an M11x R2 with an i5 and it's arriving in a few days, I was wondering if there are any worthwhile tips you guys have to share with me, such as whether should use the modded drivers or any other optimizations.
    Thanks.

I'll mostly be playing source games like TF2 and CS:S and that, do you still think I'll need the modded driver? And what makes them so much better than the original version?

The drivers that you download off of nVidia's website will not work on the Alienware M11x R2 by default. The simple reason is that all hardware has a unique identifier called a Hardware ID associated with it. When you install any driver, it looks for this Hardware ID, and compares it to a list of "approved" Hardware ID's. The nVidia 335M GPU in Alienware M11x R2's is not on nVidia's list of "approved" hardware ID's. They do this to avoid any potential incompatibilities of trying to install drivers on devices that don't support those drivers.

However, the nVidia 335M in the Alienware M11x R2 is absolutely 100% compatible with the drivers you download from nVidia's site. Using a "modded" driver is simply replacing nVidia's list of "approved" hardware ID's with a list that includes the nVidia 335M GPU found in your Alienware M11x R2. It is absolutely safe to do, and has been done thousands of times by other owners on this forum.

If you do NOT use modded drivers, then you are limited to only downloading video drivers from Dell's support website. The problem is that Dell does not update video drivers anywhere nearly as frequently as nVidia releases new ones.

So, the benefit of using modded drivers is that you are no longer forced to wait for Dell's slow process of releasing video drivers through their support website. By using modded drivers, you get access to the frequent video card driver updates that are released directly by nVidia, with absolutely no risk of "breaking" or "damaging" anything.

Well It just arrived then while I was having breakfast, I'm surprised at how small it is, I'm using an 11.6 inch laptop now and it has the same resolution but the m11x is so much smaller, but I'll get used to it sooner or later, it smells so new :3
    I'd get pictures but I don't have a camera

Congrats on the new M11x. You're post title is very misleading though.

Yeah, it's a lot smaller than you'd think. Check around the forums for tips on optimizing it!

Yes I know, I made the thread when I didn't have it, I'll see if I can change it, if I had a camera I would've loved to do an unboxing

Alright I have everything setup and I'm currently on my m11x, but I'm having one problem, whenever I restart I move my cursor to the start button and it goes off screen, so I looked into screen resolution and it thought I had an external monitor plugged in, so I fixed it and made it only show on screen 1 but then when I restart it just goes back to how it was before, it's not saving my settings.
EDIT: Also my firefox is playing up, I use v. 4 beta 6, I know it's only the beta but on my old notebook it had no problem, my guess is the NVIDIA driver I just installed, well I never thought I'd part with firefox, I've been a long time supporter of it, but chrome is blazingly fast and no glitches at all.

Bump, I really need help on the dual monitor thing, I tried going into the NVIDIA control panel and I saw that it had the option of a dual monitor and it said that there currently was one active but I couldn't disable it, and the dual monitor menu in the control panel disappear as soon as I reset the monitor in the windows screen resolution thing

In the windows screen resolution tool (right click on desktop-->screen res) there should be an option to delete extra screens (look around).

Also, check the Intel control panel. Optimus uses the Intel GPU's display outputs, not the nVidia's. Something like "force TV detection" if I recall correctly.

Well I couldn't find anything in the Intel CP, I don't mind changing it as I start up but It'll get annoying at some point
