Hey guys, my friend just sold me his M11x a few days ago for $65.
    Specs:
    Core 2 duo 1.7ghz
    160gb HDD (I upgraded to a 250 i had lying around)
    1GB ram (lol) (i upgraded to 4)
and i think its the nvidia 335m card.

But my problem is, i cannot at all get the switchable graphics thing to work... i did a fresh reinstall of windows and installed all the drivers from the alienware site, i even tried getting the video drivers direct from nvidia, but when i press the switch graphics button nothing happens. I must be missing something here, any ideas?

Also, any must do m11x mods?

    Thanks in advance.

I think you need to press either F5 of F6 to switch between the discrete and on board graphics on the M11x R1. Also you need to use the drivers provided by dell iirc.

    Regards.

Should "FN" and "F6" to switch graphics on he R1. You should see a popup when you switch.

It works! now when i press it a popup comes up and the screen flashes black to the other card. I also see hybrid graphics in the taskbar....

    Another question,
Sometimes i noticed that it won't come out of sleep.. the lights come on but black screen. Why is this? (Maybe it was beacuse i had the wrong graphics drivers installed but i don't know.)

Alienfusion is your power settings, i would check there and see what the HDD/Screen sleep timers are at. I usually just turn em all off.
