Well, I pulled the plug and purchased the M11x R1 today. I went with the R1 for 2 reasons,

    1) I was able to haggle to get one for the cyber monday price plus 2GB ram upgrade for free :) PM me for details!!! I will gladly foward you the needed info.

    2) I really did actually need a VGA port so when Im on the road doing demos, I can easily hook up to the projector, without having to purchase a new cable :p

Im looking foward to getting this little bad boy in my hands.. Coming from the HUGE 17" Gateway FX this thing is gonna feel down right tiny but ohh so good.

Going to look around on Steam now to see what will be my inaugural download!

I still cant believe I walked away buying this little marvel for 600.00 new! The hinge thing has me a bit concerned, but I plan on loosining the screws a tad as suggested.. And keeping a strong eye on it. But for 600.00 you really cant beat that deal, even with a pointed stick!

You can buy a DisplayPort to VGA adapter for less than USD25.00

You can even get USB to DVI adapters which you can then plug a VGA adapter into. Resolution can be a bit more restrictive on this option, but sometimes I fancy connecting to a DVI monitor port when I only have USB.

Again, you can also get a DisplayPort to DVI adapter.

In fact you can support most monitor connections via a DisplayPort. HDMI, DVI, VGA. Who knows, you may even find support for composite and component DisplayPort adapters, I've never looked.

M11xR2 has the advantage of hyper-threaded processors, Intel updates to the chipsets and Nvidia Optimus with forward support for newer driver sets.

M11xR1 has restricted integrated (unable to update Intel chipset display) and no hybrid driver support unless you're prepared to download a driver set from the good folk building their own here at NBR.

You'll see the optional Intel display chipset update sitting in Windows update. Woe betide you if you ever think you can download it without loosing half you system.

    Cheap is not always better.

M11xR3 soon to be released (who knows when) is mooted to have revised hinge mounting support.

At the next stop buy an M11xR3. You have chosen to buy an M11xR1.
