I just booted up my 1 week old R3 (no bios update or over locking) and heard 3 beeps and then noticed that the boot screen just froze with the red loading line at the bottom made it almost all the to the end. I had to do a hard shutdown and rebooted. My right USB side was not powered so I did another reboot and everything works perfect now.

My question is if I should be worried about a future problem, or are these things normal with the M11x. I never noticed these issues when I had my MacBook Air and used bootcamp to run Windows 7.

I experienced something similar but it was due to the fact that I had plugged my Razer Copperhead mouse into the right-side USB ports. My understanding is that the computer was trying to boot from the USB device for whatever reason.

Unplugging the mouse during start-up, or leaving it plugged into the powered USB port on the lefthand side solved the problem. For some reason my USB keyboard doesn't have the same problem with the righthand USB ports and I can it plugged in there nonstop.

I've had my R3 now for 4 months without any problems after this initial issue.

if the bios is set to boot from hard disk why would it be trying to boot from your USB?

Not trying to derail the thread, but I honestly was puzzling over that myself as for some reason that answer kept coming up in my searches (despite there not being an option for the USB being bootable that I saw in the BIOS settings). Do you think it could just be the mouse was drawing more power than the unpowered ports could provide? I don't understand why the PC would hang for 20 minutes and then finally finish the POST operation because of a mouse drawing too much power. If you have more insight into this please share it.

Okay, it is starting to get a little annoying now! 2 days ago, the Alienware tech reinstalled my USB 3 drivers (I could have done that myself) and after several reboots, the USB 3 port was working fine. I just turned on my machine with my same Razer USB plugged in, and the ports stopped working. I checked My device manager and got the same yellow exclamation on the USB 3 driver. It stated the device did not properly start.

So I rebooted and got the blue screen of death. Windows restored my system to a previous point and everything is working fine again. I rebooted twice already to see if my mouse would still work and it does. First, is my system screwed up now because of the blue screen and the restore to a previous point and secondly, is there something else going on here with my system?

This is the crap that made me run to Apple after suffering through crappy Dell tech issues with an XPS 13" laptop. Now I am wondering if I will be okay or should start a RMA process. I really like my M11x but not sure I enjoy dealing with system issues after a week of usage. I never had blue screens with my 11" Air on Windows 7 so why would I get a blue screen now?
