Hey everybody I've just ordered my m11x yesterday. I pretty much have no knowledge whatsoever in computers but figured this is the place to learn. I ordered my computer from Alienware with core i7, 8 gigs of RAM, 500 gigs of memory and in stealth black. I'm going to do a fair amount of researching but is there anything I should know about this computer before I get started?
    Thanks

What made you decide to buy a computer you knew nothing about in advance? If you don't mind me asking?

I don't mind. I've always wanted one of these computers and have finally had the money to purchase one. It's going to be about two weeks before it arrives, so I'm learning as much as I can before it gets here.

Welcome to the club! You are going to be very pleasantly surprised and I am sure you will love your purchase.

I've had 0 troubles with the laptop so far, its been about 4 months since I've received it. No problems with the hinge whatsoever. The best laptop I've owned for a while.

    Thanks for the welcome,
That's one thing I'm worried about these computers is reading about all these problems people are having. But I suppose no matter what brand of computer you have there is going to be problems. I'm guessing optimus is what switches between graphics cards in the r2? Read there where problems with it switching or something like that. I'll have to read more into that thread when I get home from work! Glad to be part of the community, hopefully my laptop will be here soon!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase!

Most of the optimus issues for new users are resolved with this video (also mentioned in post#1 of the Troubleshooting thread). :)
