No WiMAX with Intel 6250 card?

Hey guys,
I just swapped out my Intel 1000 wifi card for the Intel 6250+WiMAX card. Runs great, better signal, loving it. However I'm not seeing any options at all for using or configuring WiMAX. Am I missing something here? Do I need a certain driver, or do I need additional hardware?

 

WiMax is long range wireless format that almost no one use(at least non-commercial), you will need to have hardware that broadcast wimax. I have no idea about configuring it though..

 

I know what WiMAX is, and you'd be surprised at how much it is still used today. Clear's entire network is WiMAX, and Sprint has a respectably large WiMAX network. Sprint is so slow bringing LTE in because they spent so much on WiMAX.

No additional hardware needed. The Intel Centrino 6250 is the only hardware required. Connects to any WiMAX network. Where I am here in Utah, Sprint and Clear both offer connectivity. I signed up with Clear and I'm getting 5.1Mbps down and 1.28Mbps up. Not bad at all! It was extremely easy to set up and use.

 

That's nice, what is going rate for that?

 

I paid $9 for the card off eBay, shipped. Amazing deal. Clear had the best cheap plan. 2GB for $20. No contracts, use it when you want. Most of the time I've got Wi-Fi and my Galaxy S3 on Sprint (3G only here), so this fills the voids quite nicely.

 

You need the WiiMax driver for that, it'll probably be on the Intel website. It's an app that will let you choose to connect to WiMax.
