Hey guys, I got my R2, it was ordered over the phone and the plate on the back just came with "m11x" on it. So I contacted the rep and he said that they are not making the plates anymore... Can anyone confirm this for me?

Well that's weird. If they dont do the nameplates anymore why they give you the m11x nameplate. I'll check it.

I just went onto the dell website and configured a m11x and it gave me an option to personalize the nameplate. Maybe because you didn't personalize it when you ordered it that they won't give you a new plate.

I ordered it over the phone, here is what my sales rep told me.

"The name plates are no longer available in any Alienware system. They were only available only during the launch of Alienware systems which was a very long time back."

I'm going to call tomorrow and get someone else.

yeah he totally lied to you (that's kind of one of alienware's things, the customizable plate)... and if you can still do it now on their website, you can still get it (when you ordered over the phone, did they even tell/ask you about the nameplate? if not, make sure to bring that up when talking with a CS rep). i didn't get to choose with my refurb but i'm not upset over that because it's not a new unit (my first unit that was new got it though).

Alienware should at least have an option for those who buy from a retailer to order one customized name plate. They should do the same for returns, too. Ome customized plate per service tag. It wouldn't cost them a lot if they made the user pay for shipping.

Utter customer service fail. They spelled my name wrong when I got mine and I emailed a Dell rep. I got my replacement plate in about a week or two. The font was a little substandard (looked like they went from the special Alienware font to plain Arial Narrow) but at least they fixed it.

It may be different from region to region... It's possible that this service isn't offered all around the world.

When I ordered my M15x there wasn't an option to customize the name plate... (even though "custom nameplate" was listed in the specs :D) I simply got a namplate with "M15x" written on it...
