    Hey guys,

Am a new owner of a M11X R2 i5 - 4gb ram - 250 7200rpm HDD. I have had this niffty little machine for about 2 1/2 weeks, and have been lurking here for about a month. Love this machine, no complaints. I was lucky and snatched this beauty up through the outlet (refurb) for $740 including tax and next day shipping (20% Off coupon). I will be ordering my Momentus Hybrid tomorrow off Amazon for $99 bucks, and at some point may upgrade the ram to 8gb. Not really playing many games on this machine, but use it for school heavily.

Wanted a unique machine (not an apple) that had power, and the option to game if I wanted. So far I have gotten that and more. Thanks for letting me lurk, and please excuse me if I ask some dumb questions here and there as I am a ROOKIE and NOOB to Alienware products, and laptops in general.

If your not playing games or anything too intensive (just school work) i dont think its a good idea to try to justify an upgrade to 8gb. Even 4gb is enough for gaming. But congrats on the new laptop and welcome to the forums.

Yeah your prob right, thing runs sweet right now, only thing I have is the little gap at the top of the screen, and the screen does not lay flat when closed, I just keep a microfiber cloth when closed. I have read various post regarding the aforementioned, and I can live with it. This thing is a beast, I am school to get my AA in Paralegal studies, and this thing just smokes through any and everything I through at it (research, case files, pulling images) the rest of my class have net books and 15-17 inch rigs which are super slow compared to this little thing!!!!

I was able to install the Momentus XT 500gb Hybrid into this machine over the weekend. Damn it is quite a difference. Loving this thing a little more each and everyday I get to play with it.

lol 4gb is enough. You can never have too much ram. I am however a software engineer and running a VM, and 3 IDEs at the same time can be a bit much for 4GB, and forget about running firefox too. 8GB min when you have that much stuff :) But that's just me.

It's an addictively fun laptop to use. Probably the "funnest" laptop that I've ever owned.

So, you already upgraded the mechanical HDD to a Seagate Momentus XT. Are you ready to come back to these forums, and make posts about mice and headphone recommendations? :p
