I got my new cooling pad from Cooler Master today I though I would share my results. So far, it's hard to say whether the pad actually makes the notebook quiter, it does not seem to be the case in the games anyway where the gpu goes to 70s even if you put your m11x in the fridge. But from what I see from my CPU tests here the results are amazing and clearly above anything I could expect.

Regarding the placement of the fan, I have tried everything and the spot that seems to work the best is right bellow the fan of the m11x. Basically this way the pad fan blows the air inside the notebook even if the PC fan is not working thus helping lowering the temps. I'm not sure how it behaves when the PC fan is on but I'm sure it helps too.

So how about some graphs now.

First test is a stress test with OCCT. The m11x fan stayed on 3800 RPM the whole time.

    No pad at all :

Pad with the fan OFF :

    Awesome!

Pad with the fan ON :

So, looks like the fan doesn't help much on load.

Now something different. This is a screenshot of HWiNFO64 sensors on iddle. M11x fan stayed at 0 RPM the whole time.

I think it's pretty obvious what happened here - I turned the pad fan off for 5 minutes. And yeah that's a 8°C spike for CPU. Pretty sick. Nvidia GPU graph included as well cause I'm on an external screen so it does work all the time.

Another thing worth mentioning - laptop fan was on 0 RPM while I was doing the screen captures/uploading/posting. These are very basic tasks but I heard m11x fan kick in as soon as I did pretty much anything before.

    Final thoughts :

    - Can't set the fan speed, that sucks
    - The fan is audible but definitely more quiet than the m11x main fan in 3800 RPM mode (which seems to be the lowest step)
    - The size of this thing is perfect, just slightly smaller than the m11x, you basically don't see it.
    -Totally worth it :D

    Thanks you for the result!

I did this mod yesterday XD
My cooling pad is exactly the same as your , but its rocketfish brand and come fanless. I really liked the size. Its Perfect!. I added 2 coolermaster 120mm Antec Tricool. The supply is a 5$ 12V 500ma supply. I have'nt add the switch on off yet that you can see on the picture. I did some temp test but i need to put number togheter but at first it not looking that great ><. Maybe its better to have a 80MM at the exact right place like yours! I did test like without dock, with dock and dock+fan. The big step is between no dock at all and a dock. Maybe i'll show temp number later. I think i will had a 80mm left and keep a 120mm right :D Enjoy

This looks awesome. Aren't you afraid this thing will fly away with your m11x at full power? Kidding :D Good luck with the tests!

Did it come with fans like that + external power supply? i meant did you DIY the fans? most of the pads come with USB power supply to the fans.

Also, putting m11x in a fridge helps, left my window open in the morning and left, was probably ~1celcius in the room when i got back, fan stayed at minimum speed while gaming lol...

Sorry for late reply. The rocketfish(mine) dock come FANLESS , but the Coolermaster(op) dock come with a usb fan.

So yeah , i added 2 120mm fan myself. Fan are 12V. Any 12V supply will do. Make sure you don't inverse the + and -. Any usb dock could be modded with a supply. Personnaly i don't like to use usb fan for few obvious reason but its ok too. 9Volt could do too if you don't want them max speed and/or don't have speed switch on the fan. I used 2 Antec 120mm Tricool and they do have switch low med high.

yeah , i live in a cold area too^^. I have so much LCD / Computer in my room i leave the window open when its 0C outside lol
