Noticed a slight dark purple line streak near the middle of the screen. It's persistent even during bootup.

EDIT 2: Took the entire screen for size comparison. The Windows Command Prompt is at its default size.

The streak is detectable only at 2300K lighting, ISO200, and 1/40 sec. Any other levels, the streak is undetectable. You really have to look hard for it in this attachment.

EDIT: I didn't know my HTC One M8 had Manual Mode for the camera. I was able to use the Manual Mode to take obvious pictures of the purple streak, which is detected as a light anomaly according to the camera snapshots.

    Original Message:

There's a very faint, dark purple line streak in the middle of the screen. It's very faint, to the point you have to stare at a black image for a bit, and then you'll see it. I tried using my HTC One M8 camera to capture it, but it doesn't show up in the images taken.

This persistent purple link streak will show up when the LCD screen is lighted up, when the Alienware logo appears at bootup, and when you have the Windows Command Prompt at fullscreen after typing in the "cls" command. I feel that there's an internal damage in the screen, but I can't really say.

I don't know if other Alienware 13 laptops have this faint purple streak in the middle of the screen. Can anyone confirm?

And what do I do with the purple line streak? Ignore it? Does it hide even more obscure but serious damages that normal inspection won't detect?

This is an abnormality in any laptop. Contact Alienware to see if they can replace the panel. I doubt it's a GPU problem.

I think they would. Just replied to you over at AWA; I'd rather not repeat myself.

So, I guess there are some overlaps between forums related to Alienware. Duly noted.
