Update for 21.Aug-2010
-----------------------
I was going thru some stuffs with this drivers yesterday and notice that I miss out one of the file. Honestly I have got the previously posted one installed about a week and not notice any abnormal stuffs happening. Nonetheless since I spotted the mistake I have corrected it and reinstall my drivers while still not notice any difference at all. But I just felt that its necessary for you guys to use the corrected version. The main change I did was only to one of the installation file within the original package as I miss out renaming that when I was doing a file compare last time when I first attempt to mod this driver so the previous installation could have included some files older than it should come with. They are still all original files from Nvidia's 189.88. For those who have download the previous posted one or currently running with this set of drivers is recommended to download the drivers again and reinstall it. I dont think you need to uninstall or do driver sweep for those who already running this driver set. Just simple extract the package and run the setup to install again. But for those who are coming from different versions especially the 25x.xx series is still recommended to driver sweep prior to installing this driver.
Those who have encounter gfx bug with the previous set might want to try the game again to see if the bug was really indeed the driver bug or cause by some old files being installed rather than new. Thanks
As requested by fellow mates here. I have package and upload 189.88 for your testing/usage.
Just extract the package to a folder and run the setup within as usual. Feedback how it works for you if you do install these drivers and feel free to compare them to other which I have posted before.
As usual this is also a set that will work with PB games online. So there would be no issue with BFBC2.
Games I have tested before and work without issue
1. SC2
2. WOW
3. Portal
4. Alien Swarm
5. Killing floor
6. Borderland
7. Mass Effect 2
8. L4D2
9. Guild Wars
10. Global Agenda
11. Splinter Cell : Conviction
12. BFBC2 + Online
Disclaimer : Use this at your own risk, thou I have tested this long enough doesnt mean i wont blow you up.And it dont come with any warranty of any sort neither from me, Dell/Alienware or Nvidia.
Please Note : If you are installing over a higher version eg. any 25x.xx version, please perform a driver sweep to fully remove your existing drivers before installing

the DL Link doenst work
-
Thanks you! everything works great!
only issue im having is on L4D (first one) theres an issue with certain lights (example: the helicopter at begin of no mercy and when u blow up gas station) YouTube - Left 4 dead lighting errors. m11x
i mean its not big deal but this was not an issue on the latest dell drivers from their website
Edit: I tested l4d2 as well and I still get the lighting issue on there as well (as mentioned above) also Im having difficulties running metro 2033 in Nvidia mode... ive added to whitelist but it still wont launchany ideas for this too?
-
Does this bad boy include the PhysX drivers?
-
no physx sorry only contain the drivers and i dont use the latest physx either. i just let steam install its version. due to that the latest physx + 189.xx drivers is broken for ME2. with older physx its ok and i dont have a game that require new physx as of yet
-
-
Is installing these drivers just simply clicking on the file once it's downloaded and running through the install process.
Or do i have to do the thing with the ini.file or whatever it was back in your instructions for one of the other drivers? -
This Fixed my Starcraft2, but like Juicebox said there is still the error in L4D2 as in L4D1. Photo related:
The driver that dell released for the 335 that broke bad company fixed this for both L4D 1 & 2 -

EDIT. Also after these drivers my Oblivion looks like this:

So for this driver do we have to deal with a modded inf file? Or should it automatically detect the hardware?
edit: nvm it's installing fine. -
thanks for the feedback. i dont have this game so its good that you post it up. btw before this what drivers you using? and how did you install this set over your previous? -
-
I have updated the package due to some old files wasnt rename properly in the old package I posted. Please redownload and reinstall the driver. More info on the front page. Thanks
-
I just found a setup.exe in the Rar and ran the update. It fixed my Starcraft and bad company2. But broke my oblivion. XD
And Did you see my post about the lighting error in L4D2? -
-
Because i just downloaded fixed drivers from OP and instaled them and error was still there. :[ -
hello, I'm still having issues with punkbuster after installing these drivers, bad company 2 still kicks for the same error. Any suggestions? I've used driver sweeper and such to get rid of the newer 258.xx drivers but still no luck and getting any online PB game to work :/
-
-
hmm, I just assumed BC2 or steam auto updated it for me, But ill give that a try right now
update: No luck, I updated for BC:2 but still getting the error :/ -
sorry. maybe you want to try 189.79
-
whats the exact error from PB? I suppose definitely not the multi D3D error that ppl used to get with 25x.xx drivers. I remember I used to get similar error with 189.xx drivers too but that was because my PB is not up to date as the server version. So I had to manually update the PB by downloading the updater from PB site. After that its all good already. I am 100% sure this is not related to the drviers -
Thanks so much
-
Okay so I am still getting the multiple direct 3d errors. I even tried going back to Dell's default series that worked when i first got the machine, but I get the same error. When I use driver sweeper, I am booting the machine in safemode and deleting all Nvidia related files so I don't know what is going wrong.
I'll upload a picture to comfirm the error, I think its safe to say its not the drivers causing the issue..

edit: i sized down the picture too much but you should still be able to see the driver number -
you might want to run your BFBC2 in full screen mode -
-
How about this. Uninstall all your display drivers. Including the Intel HD ones then reinstall them back. Also in your program files folder look up for Nvidia folder. You might see some sub folders inside and 2 of those which are probably there are coproc and updatus. If you see this 2 folders there after uninstalling your Nvidia drivers. delete both. apart from doing a driver sweep. you might want to consider doing a reg cleaning using Ccleaner. then reinstall back all the drivers. for the Intel HD drivers I recommend you to use the default one from Dell for this test in case if you already using anything newer that was release by Intel. Dont try the modded driver after reinstalling. Use the default Intel driver from Dell and for the Nvidia one use 189.69 then try your BFBC2 again. if everything goes well then upgrade your Nvidia driver.
-
Played BC2 for about an hour last night after doing all this, worked great.. Going to try and upgrade to the 189.88 so i can play SC and such. Thanks a bunch for the help! Getting BC2 to run was my only real issue with the comp!
Edit: 189.88 is working great, reinstalling the intel drivers and deleting that folder might have helped, I also re-downloaded every driver. Problem solved -
dont expect this driver to be perfect as it has its own flaw base on feedback from different users too. But most importantly if it can run whats important to you i think that would be enough for now until better drivers are out
-
An update, For some reason i downloaded the newest drivers from dell they released the 257.30 and it fixed everything EXEPT bad company. still get the multiple d3d. So i reverted back to defaults, reinstaled modded version of this driver and now i have horrible input lag in l4d2. >.<
-
for 189.xx drivers. if this dont work well for you then use 189.79. -
ok so I am new to this, exactly how do I go about uninstalling all the drivers. what exactly do I enter?
nm i found out -
ok so I am running 189.88 and it runs very smoothly with BC2 but I cant get the nvidia to kick in for l4d2. I have white listed the game but every time i close the white list or leave it for a minute if disappears from the list, any suggestions?
-
Hey I installed the driver so I could play BC2 online but now the performance is terrible. I think it might be running on the Intel chip but I don't know how to tell.. Any advice?
Edit: Never mind just didn't clean up my old drivers enough.. Working great now even though I have to play BC2 on the lowest setting (guess its just a weak card).. Thanks a ton man! Can't wait for a real fix though.. -
-
So i take it this thread is dead? :c
-
The drivers are horribly outdated (though I think PB doesn't go bork with these?)
-
-
-
-
Also. On another note, I just picked up frontlines" Fuel of War today on the Steam sale and my laptop doesn't meet reqs..? Yet my desktop does? .__. -
not sure what can cause your lag thou. since i personally tested it numerous time and they always work fine.
But for the 189 series drivers I personally preferred 189.79. No special reason just find it more stable overall than 189.88

sound like the optimus system file is acting up due to multiple versions of the dll appear to be in your system. And optimus can stop working properly because of that. You can try to reinstall the driver. But you will need to use driver sweep to clean up the drivers. On top of that you also need to manually go to your program files folder and look up for Nvidia folder. You should see some sub folders within call updatus or coproc. you may have only either 1 of even both. just delete them if they exist. then install the driver again. See if this helps
