    hi guys,
well, as the topic states i REALLY need help OCing my m11x r2. to make a long story short; when ever i try to do it from the BIOS it doesnt seen to change when i check the system info. just the same 1.07 Ghz as before. i downloaded a program called CPU-Z to make sure the OC didnt take and sure enough that program showed the same results. im pretty knowledgeable in computers, so it's kinda embarrassing to ask for a step-by-step process on what to do and all that good stuff....and help will be greatly appreciated asap, i wanna start playing Rift on my OWN computer....oh and if more info is needed on my system or what not, just let me kno..

Have you tried looking at cpu-z while running something that would tax the CPU (and cause it to work it's way up to the increased core clock you set courtesy of turbo mode)? Prime-95 would be a nice bet.

Some M11x-R2 laptops have a bug where the overclock you set in the bios is reset before you boot up. If CPU-Z shows the default 133 MHz base clock speed then that is probably what is going on. There is no fix for this bug since Dell doesn't stand behind the overclocking features of this laptop.

If you ever manage to overclock successfully in the bios then you can head over to the Supercharge thread and learn some more about what the M11x-R2 is really capable of with a tweak or two.

Wait, so even other CPU overclock programs wouldnt work? If so that would really suck... OC makes the m11x what it is.

i thought maybe setpll would work, instead of doing it in the bios.

The bug seems to be in the bios so SetFSB or SetPLL should still work OK.

Some users have reported that when they set a 160 MHz overclock in the bios that they end up with that some of the time and maybe 1 out of every 4 or 5 times they boot up, the bios overclock is ignored and it is only running at the default 133 MHz. That's a pain because it means each time you boot up you have to check to make sure that your overclock was successful.

When this happens, you should be able to fix it with SetPLL. For some users you might be better off depending on SetPLL since it is a more reliable way to overclock.

yep, i would either use setpll or try reflashing to bios to an older or newer version.

Don't you need to OC in the BIOS first before you mess with the BLCK?
Because with Overclock 'disabled' in BIOS its default '133' MHz and I actually have problems using SetPLL
but say I 'enable' Overclock in the BIOS to '134' MHz or higher I now can use SetPLL perfectly... Is this issue isolated to me perhaps?

There is no problem as TME is unlocked with overclocking. By unlocking TME, the PLL will accept manual programming through SetPLL.

I'm 99% sure that the system info will say 1.07 Ghz regardless of what you overclock to.
