the i5 will give you more performance but at the cost of battery life

the core 2 duo has better battery life still

Another thing is i will have money left over if i go with the core 2 duo which some i want to spend on a razer naga epic ( if u have any feedback thatd be great) and some for the m11x. What upgrades should i use on my m11x?

I would get the Core 2 Duo and go nuts on accessories :D

The gain in performance is great for benches....barely noticeable in real life. Loss in battery will be quite noticeable in real life. Also optimus is far from a perfect technology.....

sorry for double post but i went and read the first few posts on this thread and saw i needed a GPU-Z shot as well for my score to count so i did a second run and got even higher! :)

    8104.jpg

how are you cool kids putting the link to the screen shot in your sigs? i tried a few different ways but the codes arent working for me.

DR650SE you need to PinMod man. with your GPU OC your going to get over 8100 for sure.

Wasn't there a benchmark thread for this?

    Also,
Pinmodded R1s and R2s removes the CPU bottleneck.

haha iv already tried it with an unstable oc, it wasnt pretty =p
but got my cpu at 1.6ghz and the 267 drivers and the overclock thats in my signature. also running the os with only about 27 processes running and about 350mb of ram usage at idle. and gamebooster premium

EDIT: also have my nvidia control panel heavily optimized.

    Top 3DMark06 for a standard M11xR1 is ~7129

I've clocked close to ~7000 on my M11xR1 quite often.

Good to see DavyGT showing off again. :D

I tried ReadyBoost, just in case it gives a slight edge. Used a class-10 SD card, but alas it did nothing as the SATA 7200RPM HDD and 4GB of RAM is just to high for the SD ReadyBoost to kick in. Just though I may be able to make use of my SD slot on the M11x.

So looks like the SSD is the smart answer to an easy performance increase.

Damn!!! IE9 has no spell check in the editor!!

how the heck did you get your texture fillrate so high???
my gpu is overclocked more then yours and your fillrate is a lot higher.

I used an old version of GPUZ. You shouldn't use fillrates to judge different cards however as it is flawed- it isn't affected by shader clockspeed.

Those were my 24/7 stable as a rock clocks.

Total newb here. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

    Baseline settings:
    OC'd to 160 w/Turbo on
    ThrottleStop TPL 30/30
    3dMark: 6939

When I changed the GPU settings to:
    551 core/ 1322 Shaders/ 890 Memory, I got 6962.

    Then I tried:
    575/1405/850, I got 4406?!

    Then:
    550 core/ 1320/890 = 4392?!?

    Am I missing something here?

i dont have a R2 but that sounds like thermal throttling.

are you sure TS is set up correctly?

7k isnt bad, but the reason your only getting in the 4 thousands is because your gpu is throttling because it cant handle that high of an overclock.

before you disable throttling... you should worry about your temps.

    what are you running? idle/load?

i mean, the gpu will reset itself down to 2d clocks if the overclock is to high, you have to restart your machine, run furmark, and increase clocks in 5mhz increments, go all the way til the screen flickers or theres a crash, then restart, and go to the clocks where it crashes, and decrease it about 7 mhz from the crashing point. do this for all clocks, core clock, shader clock, and memory clock.

you should end up with something stable

i think a driver crash my be the issue. just reboot and you should be fine after you return your clocks to somthing stable.

nice video dude, did you have gpu-z open to monitor the current clocks to see if it actualy was that high?

also you have a ton of crap open! i bet if you turned all that stuff off things would run even better.

my current 3dmark06 score is 7650 btw.

hahah good =p also, you may be able to put your clocks that high, but the overclock might not be registering.

and to achieve more speed you should disable all the programs at start up you dont need, and disable any microsoft services you dont use =)

Top 3DMarks(marks) to tassadar898!! Well done.

Best not volt mod and setfsb an M11xR2 i7 before the M11xR3 is released.

Let's at least let the M11xR3 have it's day in the sun before it is eclipsed by it's sibling. :D

    Having a 'standard' M11xR1 1.6Ghz I've never managed above 6965 3Dmarks in 3DMark06.

I sooooo need a vmod GPU BIOS for my R1 just to see my score exceed 7000.

The wait and expectation is worse than watching your first Guinness of the day being poured. :D

What's that you are using for the GPU OC?
[EDIT tried eVGA but that limits mem clock speed :(]

I am using MSI Afterburner and it tops out at 585/1405/1007. With my i7 at 164CPU, GPU585/1405/975, Throttlestop I am getting close to 9k (8992).

[EDIT] Broke 9k with 585/1405/980 and the latest Intel drivers (not sure if that makes a difference) with CPU still at 164 http://3dmark.com/3dm06/15616628

i am using eVGA, I find that increasing the memory clock doesnt help nearly as much as core/shader. congrats on topping 9k! push for 9.2k I know you can if you OC the CPU.

Silly question maybe....but are you guys running 06 on the M11x screen or a separate monitor to achieve the standard 1280x1024?

I would be MUCH more interested in seeing standard results so that I could actually compare the scores you all post to anything else in the world.....
