Guys, how long does it typically take for them to finish production?

 

I think I saw someone write it takes 10 days maximum from your order date, unless a part or two is on back order. My EDD is 7/12 and order date was 6/24. If it is 10 business days then shipping date would be 7/7 or 7/8 if they count the 4th of July Monday holiday. I am just guessing, I dont really know how it all goes down in the Dell factories.

 

bad news guys right now they have a back ordered item in the units, so est delivery date is postponed to 19th. They upgraded my shipping to next day shipping for free. my est delivery date was 9th. but now i have to wait until the 19th at least!!!

edit: i ordered on 6/24.

 

What model did you get? Cause I have a M11x R2(check sig for specs) and it still says the original July 20 EDD (Ordered July 1st)

 

Urgh, thats so odd because my order date was 6/24 also but EDD is 7/12. I guess that also means mine got on the back order mess train also. Dang, I hate the waiting.

Did you find out about the back order through the website or did you have to call them?

 

My estimate shipping date was July 20th when I ordered it. So the status was "production",than in about 5 days it changed to ship and it is arriving today, so It shouldn't take too long for production.

 

i called epp 1800 695 8133, and they transferred me to a rep since my sale rep is on vacation. I told them I had been calling my sales rep for at least a week and couldnt reach him to change the shipping option.

 

I ordered the same setup on 7/5. EDD: 8/2. Ugh.

 

Maybe theres a part out of stock...

I beg to differ. I ordered 3 days after the m11x was available for order on 6/11, and have yet to receive any update on my order beyond the EDD of 7/9. See my spec below.

Yes I am in the US. First of all there were really good deals out after you ordered because i was in the same boat like you before. I had an order in exactly at 11th of June. However, after reading this forum realized that I had paid way too much for it (comparing some people got the same system for less then 1K by using variety of coupons and discounts), then I canceled my order. When i was canceling it they offered me free software stuff or warranty but didnt want to take it pushed it too hard then canceled it. Right after that ordered a new one turned out to be a better system for 200$ less. Also got next day free shipping. PM me if you need further information. You have to call them and complain basically.

 

Yea, I ordered and canceled twice, was paying retail then coupon then another coupon... so my system was basically 850 before tax and ship. Not the best deal out there but not too shabby

 

my price is about the same as yours the only difference is i7 upgrade and 320 hdd upgrade so if you add those on top of your 850 it turns out to be the same. I think before the Boeing 21% coupon expired people got great deals. When i called 21% Boeing was down to 16%. I got a student discount of 17% plus 100$off coupon and free next day shipping now. We will see what i else i can pull out from them!!!

 

Sorry to hijack the owners thread, but I got through to Dell Canavars and they told me the exact same information that you mentioned and my EDD is moved back to 7/19 too. They did give me free next day shipping. Yipeee.

 

Wait, has the new EDD been updated on the website? Cause mine still says the 20th(I'm too lazy to call lol)

 

they usually tell you that they have to wait for the approval for shipment change upgrade but i have never read anybody who got denied from the upgrade. they will send you another email for your order with changed EDD and shipment type (most likely tomorrow).
I also really kind of feel bad for destroying owners lounge but i am sure these two pages will answer many questions that people currently have.

 

No, its is still the same on the website. They said it takes 24 hours to update a status. I asked if all the orders after 6/24 had to go on a back order, he could'nt give me information unless I had an order number.

 

Yay I have finally received my new M11x R2. One day earlier than the EDD. lol

AH, congrats enjoy your awesome machine. I am getting to the point where waiting for my M11x does not look too bad, if they get all the kinks out of it. Rather have one of those pristine machines then one with problems that people have been crying about all over these forums.

 

Just got my m11x i5 3 gigs ram yesterday, EDD was July 19th so two weeks early is nice . First impressions, soft touch case absorbs grease and prints like a paper towel, you'd swear I was frying bacon while playing portal. Otherwise great piece of hardware, I even like the screen, glossy is great for movies which is one reason I bought it. Still tinkering with optimus but fun stuff

 

I feel the same way i just have a microfiber cloth next to it so i can wipe it off all the time i hate seeing the smudges

 

Yeah, a damp, clean microfiber cloth does the trick. I still prefer it to a glossy finish though.

 

So has anyone figured out the part that is the cause of the delay? Mine still says In Production and has the original EDD date of the 16th...i hope i get it early like some people are reporting.

Also where do these things ship out of? Are they coming straight from China?

 

Well, my order date was 6/24 and EDD was 7/12. I had heard about another poster with a similar order date but his EDD was pushed to 7/19 after a Dell sales rep told him that some parts were on a back order.
I called up my sales rep too and asked him about the EDD, and he mentioned the exact same thing and my EDD was going to be pushed back to 7/19 also. But just checked my status update changed and my EDD is at 7/8 but it still says In Production which is odd.
I dont know where they are shipping out of.

So I got the m11x and I really like it... fired up wow and noticed a little bit of fps issue... how do I tell if it is using the nvidia card or not?

I had a discount for an i7 4g ram 250 gb for $980 (including tax and shipping)set to arrive early next week, but I canceled it due to the prematurity of the product. There seems to be a unseemly delay of official reviews, which further affirms my suspicion of complications/under-development involved with the R2.

I would expect glitches and design flaws with version 1, which would be fixed and improved by a later version. In the case of m11x, you have 2 completely different products; hence two "version 1's" both with respective flaws.

I'll wait until Dell are done racking in money from their R1 and R2, and are forced to actually improve their product rather than gimmicks.

 

I returned mine, but contemplating whehter i should order again..for 850 OTD price of i7/4gig/160 or 720 OTD with i5......it's just too cheap to pass up but then i'm wondering if i'm ready to play the lotto game with the build quality

 

Make the decision yourself instead of basing it on what people post here. That's what I did and my R2 is about perfect as far as I am concerned. No build quality issues, no hinge issues, 5-6 hour battery life and it plays every game I have thrown at it without any issues. Best laptop I have ever owned...No flaws in my book.

I'm with you. I'm waiting [not so] patiently on mine (clicks refresh on status page).

The way I see it the R2 has only 2 issues. Bad hinges, which will at worst provide me with free displays for 2 years until they get it right, and Optimus video driver issues which will eventually be fixed by nVidia. Optimus is a big deal for nVidia. They're going to fix it. nVidia is taking a beating in the desktop space, the low end mobile space is now dominated by Intel. They can't afford to start loosing the high end mobile space as well.

 

Mine is perfect too, silent fan, sturdy built, not one loose part, tight hinge, no dead pixel, perfect self defense weapon whether blocking bullets or slamming it on someone lol.

 

i would be really pissed if mine comes with hinges, thats why i RMA'd my real beast G73JH back to newegg. I checked my status and Est Delivery Date and shipment type both updated.

This might be a stupid question but how does the m11x run flash games? As far as i know flash games are cpu bound; they have trouble running on my current 1.8ghz coreduo macbook?

 

flash 10.1 utilizes your gpu, at least for nvidia gpus, so they're not cpu bound anymore (see http://www.nvidia.com/object/adobe_flashplayer_plus_nvidia.html), and the 335m kicks in by default when any flash stuff loads.

Give me your flash game of choice, and I will try it to verify

 

that would suck, im sure u can change it so it can use ur intel gpu. Just like youtube
