So my friend brings me his m11x r1 (su7300) and hes got an odd bar on the right side of the screen, as you can see here.
The far right side is lit up, but black.

Also the task bar is too far down to be visible.

His display is set to 1280x800 and will not change to anything.

In device manager I only see his intel card, his 335m doesnt appear

Hitting fn+f6 makes the switch modes screen appear, the 335m appears for a second in the device manager, and then vanishes.

He's on the A05 bios, and the 263.08 nvidia drivers.

Setting him to discrete graphics makes this happen, and the resolution is said to be 1280x800

According to him he just closed the lid and opened it, and then he's got the odd bar on the side. That's all he did.

Any ideas what to do? He needs his laptop for univ, and I cant let him borrow mine as I also need mine for univ haha.

I tried a driver sweep then reinstall of his 263.08 drivers, no change at all.

Wow, looks like you may need a new motherboard.... what happens when you plug it into a external screen?

I just did a bit of reading, looks like it is indeed a faulty gpu. Time for a new motherboard.

I have the exact same problem!

It appeared a week ago and in the same manner.

I just closed the lid and it went to sleep..after i reopened the fault was there with the black bar on the side and the resolution set to 1280 x 800.

I tried reinstalling drivers etc. No help.

I however tried HDMI to my 1080p Sony TV..and there it works fine.. Weird.

Did you find a solution to this?
