    Hello,

I'm not too sure if this is in the right thread, if its not then I'm sorry and moderators feel free to delete/move.

But I Ordered a M11X R3 from dell on the 26th November my first Alienware (didn't even know they existed until last week) and I have been staring at the order status since and refreshing every couple of minutes , it has been stuck on "in production" since Monday and my estimated delivery is on the 13th of December (I'm hoping it comes sooner).

i know i need to be a little patient but its soooo hard!!

so my question is how long does in stay "in production" for usually?

and I'm from the UK and understand that there is a dell office/warehouse in belfast? would they build my m11x there or somewhere else?

from your experience with dell and alienware pc when do you think i should expect it?

    I paid £580
    here are my Specs:
    Alienware M11x : Stealth Black
    Processor : Intel Core i5 2467M (1.6GHz, 3MB Cache)
    Memory : 2048MB (2x1024) 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
Hard Drive : 250GB Serial ATA (7.200 Rpm)
    Graphics: 1GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M
Sound Card : Integrated High-Definition 5.1 Performance Audio
Operating System : English Genuine Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium (64 BIT)

I'm mainly going to use it for university but will also play football manager 2012 will it be be able to run football manger 2012 easily?
I know that i will have to update the memory but i didn't want to pay £80 for a 4gb when i can pay £30 odd for a 8gb ram from crucial.

Thank you very much any help would be appreciated

Hello - You'll be waiting for possibly several weeks from my experience (R1).
My estimate is within the next two weeks - 14, 15th - If all goes well.
I'm not sure if thats been changed for the new R3 but I purchased mine elsewhere for exactly that reason. Avoiding the wait.
Getting it half price also helped :p

I'm not a football fan but I'm very confident the R3 will easily handle that manager game on maximum settings.
The R3 is the pefect mobile companion for University/ College Life.
You will be very pleased I'm sure.

Really the listed wait times are quite variable. I do not want to get your hopes up, but as an example my system showed a wait time of nearly a month, but it arrived in just a bit over a week. I was suprised that it came that fast, but happy also.

Took them about 10 days to build and ship my M11x via FedEx. I think because you ordered it close to the holiday season it may take longer.

Call up customer care and give them some BS story about how you need it sooner for whatever reason (going out of country usually works), and they will usually upgrade you to next business day delivery for free.

I ordered 2 M11x's this year, 1 R2 and 1 R3, and i received them both within 8 days of placing the order.

Will the BS story work in the US?

I also ordered it (On the 25th :p) and my EDD is the 9th, they say it's expected to ship on the 6th. I also have been fiend over the order status and it's still in production. >.<

It's also my first Alienware! High five!

    I did a quick Google check and 580 euro = 780 usd?

I paid $959. Our spec only differ in that I have 6gb RAM and 320GB HDD.

    I feel jipped >.<

    EDIT: Mine just became shipped!

Praying that it comes earlier than expected as well. =(

Yup, i did it while i was in the US, but you have to do it literally within 2 days of placing your order. If yours is shipped then it's too late.

You gotta look out for the deals, i picked up my M11x i5 6GB R3 for $683 brand new from Dell.

    Saveology coupon?

I wish I had that 25% coupon, I was literary doubting it and wanted to wait till I get home to check it out but it was gone. T_T

    That 25% & -$50 would've been awesome!

Every so often dell has 25% off deals. I picked up my system at 25% off by watching Slickdeals: Searching for "alienware". I was able to get in on the Geico insurance discount just by using the proper passphrase and placing the order over the phone. Dell did not even ask for a geico insurance number or anything. Just the passphrase was enough to get 25% off.

That is one place I know of where cheap prices on things come along sometimes. There are a few others as well. Like that saveology. Just visit the sites every day or two and have a little patience. You will eventually get a pretty good discount.

It actually worked out to be a 27% off coupon because of the EEP 2% discount thats applied, plus they recently had the $100 off any alienware coupon code. When there wasn't any Black Friday or Cyber Monday Alienware deals I used my code with the coupon and feel like I got a pretty good deal on my m11x R3.

Nah I heard later on Dell tried to change it so that you couldn't use it on base models or needed a specific amount of upgrades/cost. It was WAY better than Black Friday or Cyber Monday deal.

You guys are so lucky with all the good deals that come accross in the US, the prices in europe are just beyond exageration and the currency conversion is quite simple: 1$ = 1€, no coupons or whatever are accepted in my region and prices can't be discussed.
The most funny part is that at first I configured the laptop through the german configurator and the momentus XT was an available option but I had to get a german OS to have it, when I settled to a french OS, suddenly the option wasn't available anymore, only normal HDD but more expensive.
Yes, I paid more to get less because I can't use win7 in german...

This was all done with a useless sales rep on the phone, when I asked if I was not mistaken about the fact I had to pay more for a lesser configuration, she had no choice and just replied "Yes"... Priceless, for the rest there is Visa and Mastercard...

I just can't tell you the price I paid for my m11x R3, it's too shameful!

Do not feel too bad Bouddha, most people pay the full price for these systems. Finding the cheaper deals takes a lot of patience and sometimes leads to dissapointment.

For example: This is my second try at getting an alienware system. My first attempt was with an R2, I ended up cancelling the order because DELL billed me twice for one order! It was a terrible pain. My bank got angry with me because I didn't have enough money to cover two charges at once in the account. I got angry with DELL when they did what they told me they would not do. And I could not access my bank account for over a week because the charges from DELL had locked my bank account (and all my money) down until the charges were sorted out.

It was a terrible mess. I had given up on purchasing a new system for another few years, and then recently I ran into some problems. My old computer (a pentium 4) could not handle some of the class work for school. It is literally just too old to do what I needed. So out of desperation I started looking around for deals and just luckily happened across that 25% off bargain.

As I mentioned however I feel my story is an exception rather than what regularly happens with alienware system sales. Be happy with what you have. It is still a good computer, even if it cost a bit more - it should give you many years of useful service.

When I ordered my M17x R2 two years ago it took forever for it to get out of "in production". Although, it was also around this time of year that I got it. The holidays are a terrible time to get laptops. Mine shipped 2 days later than estimated. There was also a massive snow storm and my delivery was delayed by 3 days and when it finally was shipped to me I wasn't home. This happened for several more days and I ended up asking my neighbor to sign for it. So I ended up getting my M17x R2 about 9 days after the estimated delivery.

You will get it but, this time of year expect delays.
