So I am ordering myself an M11x this Thursday, so that I can take advantage of their current sale and as it's the day I get payed.

This is what I configured for myself:

    i7 640um
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    4GB Dual Channel DDR3 RAM
    500GB SATA II HD

    Total: $1154

I plan to use it for MS Word, internet, as well as play games like Oblivion, Fallout 3, and HL2 on it.

Does this sound like a good configuration to suit my needs?

Also, what is the AlienGUIse Theme Manager for?(noob)

Save it to your cart, and call them on the phone to order. Tell them to bring up your account (via email address account on the dell site you carted the stuff in).

You can negotiate the prices drastically.. :) I got my 1400$ down to $1000 :D

    Why 3+ weeks?

According to the site it takes them up to 7 days to build the laptop. Being that I'm ordering on Thursday, that makes 11 days when you factor in the weekends.

I plan to buy the rushed shipping so it should not take more than two weeks?

Unless I guess if there is some sort of unforeseen delay on one of the parts or something.

Sounds good, but I kinda figured they would be wary of lowering the prices any further considering it's already on sale for $150 off.

Can't hurt to try I guess, thanks for the advice! :)

Haha no problem man. Well, they gave me an additional 200$ off. I had already had around ~220$ discounted from the EPP site. =x

So that's around ~400$ savings! ^_^ I must have gotten really lucky.. or the guy <3 me.

Alright, a lot of people are saying that they prefer R1 to the R2...

Better battery life and minimal performance increase and all that.

I configured an R1 on the site with the same RAM and HD, and it's $150 cheaper than with the i7(Not a lot).

Should I be considering that instead, especially where the newest games I play are fairly old(Fallout 3, Oblivion)?

Please look at the relevent threads for this topic. In fact the threads are still active and on the first page of the forum, you don't even have to search for it. I don't think it is wise to start another thread yet again.

I've been looking through those threads which is why I asked the question.

I figure it better to keep my questions that pertain to my computer needs in my thread instead of cluttering up other threads with them.

Also, I didn't start another thread, this is the same thread if you didn't notice.

Well, your thread started with "If your current order's configuration looked good", to which you had a reply,.. to is the R1 or R2 better?.......the main topic changed....

Anyways, if you did read all the threads regarding this issue, you will be able to make quite a sound determination if the R1 or R2 is better for your needs. I am not trying to make it difficult for you, just want to prevent another similar R1 vs R2 topic that is worded differently. However, I think you are on the right path by trying to find out more about your options before you make that purchase decision.

Personally, I think, the R1 would suit you better for your needs.

I'm not here for confrontation or troublemaking, I'm here to gather information.

I'm looking through these threads as we speak, but as should be apparent from my original posting I'm not in the loop with the current generation of gaming notebooks and it is wiser to garner the opinion of others that are instead of just going by what I myself see.

Well, I've decided to take my queries over to the Oblivion forums to see what their thoughts are in relation to this specific game.

I've two days yet to decide and I'll come back if I can't get to a conclusion on my own.

Okay, I've decided that I'm just going to order the R2 because I can get it for a lower price.

Then, I'll try it out for a while and if I don't like it I'll just send it back and get an R1.

Stop lying dude. First of all, EPP is only a 10% discount, which would mean that you had $140 off from EPP, not $200. highly doubtful you got an additional $200 on top of that.

They will not give you anything more than free ground shipping if you're already getting EPP discount. Fact!

What is up with all the hate? If you can't smooth talk yourself into getting a better deal, that's your problem.

I have no obligation to give you the EPP link I found. It gives me 215$ off exactly.

I'm not going to justify myself by giving you the courtesy of having that link.

215 off from EPP link that *I* found. It's not the normal link for EPP.. It took a lot of googling.
Then I got around another 160 or 170 off from talking. + free crappy shipping.
So from my ~1400 item, I got down to 1000.

So wabam. Jealous? I think so. So f you very much :)

Edit: I took a screenshot for all you haters out there. Go find the link yourself ;)
