So I have been tinkering with ThrottleStop lately and I noticed something very annoying. After a shutdown/restart/hibernate the processor goes back to the default 133. This doesn't always happen on the first shutdown/restart/hibernate but it will eventually happen.

In the BIOS is still shows the CPU as overclocked but ThrottleStop and other programs show it as the default 133. If I want to get it back overclocked all I have to do is go into the BIOS setting and pess f10 to save and they are back.

Another note it doesn't seem to be because I'm overclocking too much since other than this problem there are no BSODs or hangs. Also I tried overclocking to a mere 134 and the same thing still happens.

    Any ideas?

Do you use any other programs to tweak your cpu that might be changing the settings. I'm not positive but hibernate might be screwing with it, it happens to a lot of ocing tools. What are your specs btw?

I'm guessing you have the R2 since the R1 is an on or off overclock. Is it i5 or i7 and what BIOS version are you running?

I have this problem since I got my m11x i5, the OC is stable (162 or 166) but once I restart the machine, it goes down to 133, is not always, sometimes it takes 1, 2 or 3 restarts...

And I don´t use any other software or mods with it, just TS, and even without it, it goes back to 133 always...

I have learned to live wiith it, when I want to OC it, I just restart it, OC it, use it and keep it on all day, because once I turn it off or do a restart, it goes back to 133....

I noticed that when I restarted my bios still said 166 but TS and CPU-Z said 133. Not really an issue for me because when I overclock I usually change it back during next restart.

If these laptops are supported by setfsb, there is an option in ThrottleStop where it can run a program or script after a resume from stand by or hibernate. That might be a useful solution for this issue so you can get back up to full speed without having to reboot.

On my desktop computer I use a command line statement like this within the ThrottleStop Options window so it restores the overclock automatically.

    C:\Users\Kevin\Utilities\setfsb\setfsb.exe -w00 -s333 -u1 -cg[CY28551LFXC] -q

The -q option fixes the bus speed quietly in the background after a resume.
I'm not sure if this would be possible on the M11x-R2 but it's worth looking into.

No, all is default from Dell, i5, 4GB of RAM, 320GB HDD 7200rpm, etc.

True, the OC goes back to 133, but if you go to the OC section in the BIOS, it still has the previous OC selected, is weird...

I think its stupid Dell tells that they dont support overclocking, so they dont look at these problems..
