As mentioned in one of the threads - there is a pcie slot where the wwan card is supposed to be - can the actual pcie ssd work - question is_is there an io controller for that slot?

I was wondering the exact same thing for months after i got it. I managed to get one of the last samsung EOL pcie/usata ssd's from ebay to see if it would work. Sadly i have had no luck at all. The card fits fine and the chips warm up but the computer will not see the device no matter what i do.

That "PCIE" slot is actually connected to USB controller I believe. So it is not a true PCI-E slot.

There has been speculation, but no one has tried.
I'm biting at the bit, but a new monitor for the desktop and a new raid array for the server have taken my IT budget for the month. I've heard that the dell mini's didn't like certain ssd's so it's possible that the same issue would arise in the m11x.

No, there is no disk I/O controller for that slot.

Any PCIe SSD that you get in there would, at best, run at USB 2.0 speeds. You absolutely do not want to put a drive in that spot.
