To be honest I rarely use my dedicated card lol I like to play RTS games on this little thing and it is amazing if you limit the settings how good the HD3000 performs. Currently running Company of Heroes with high settings on the integrated card 35-40fpssilent as well and the battery lasts yonks. The HD4000 would be awesome.

P.S. Still waiting on news about the update/refresh/replacement for the m11x. Anyone? -
Signed it.

4200 views and only 86 people signed. Laziness!
Even so Alienware that is $86000 or £86000 just from people who can be bothered to sign a crappy petition. Get making an M11x R4 you lazy so and so's! -

There are also retailers here, but their warranties are laughable, AND they charge more than Dell or sell previous-generation models. -
Signed if it doesn't make a return i have lost faith in alienware
-
I am so desperate for an M11x R4 now lol, I hate the look of the 11 inch clevo the thing does not even come with DP so there is no chance of me getting it as I want 120hz on my 3D screen. Ridiculous for Alienware to bin such a great model still love mine to pieces just needs a more powerful GPU in it. Hopefully Alienware sales notice a dip and they reconsider!
119 supporters alone that just bothered to sign the petition X that by $1000 a time and that is already more than $100k. -
I was wondering what happened to that little guy.
Thought it was kinda cool really. Heck a GT 640M would be epic for budget gamers, especially at 720p. -
Signed. I'd like to replace my R1 with another of its 11" kin. Hopefully an R3 successor will come out around the time nVidia release their 7xx series cards.
-
I signed this a while ago, but right now all I have to say is "meh". Dell lost its shot IMO, I've got my eyes set on the ASUS UX21A. The HD4000 can game half-decently, and the screen is gorgeous.
Hey Dell, remember everyone saying that you should get a decent screen on the M11x and M14x? -
The zen is a nice model indeed and the HD4000 can game but it is only a close brush with the 540M GT and it will lack in bandwidth and raw power so will only be able to play games at low settings. Need a better 11 inch gaming model, it sucks so bad!
-
Having bought one of the final M11x R3's to be had on the Dell Outlet last weekend I did more than sign a petition, I voted with dollars.
The crazy part is that I already have a pretty nice M14x R2 that I just bought last month.
But the more I use the 14 the more "too big" it feels in many situations that I use the notebook.
The power and the DVD drive is occasionally handy, but a smaller footprint would be better for the majority of my needs.
I've realized that I am not overly concerned about being able to master the latest releases on high settings as long as they'll play reasonably well on the laptop's screen. I am set on staying within the Alienware line, and portability and battery life are a big deal.
I simply need a Far Cry 2/Call of Duty(x) diversion available when I am deployed living in a tent or stuck in some hotel room with no internet access...something with console-like performance.
Once the 11 delivers, the 2 Aliens are going to go head to head and one of them will end up getting sold.
Or maybe I can justify a reason to keep them both.-People still want a netbook size gamer
-
Maybe with Haswell coming out next year they can make a new model that we all wan't, thinner lighter and better screen, Haswell'a GPU is about twice as powerful as the HD4000.
-
If they don't offer an option for an IPS screen, I'll forfeit the gaming capability and go straight to a Zenbook. After toying around with one of those at a store, I am sold: no reflections, great image quality, great viewing angles, and according to benchmarks the HD4000 is enough to game at low-mid settings. The great build quality and sexy looks don't hurt either.
Plus I got zero response to my emails asking why AWs are not sold here nor can they ship them here from somewhere else in the EU. -
-
I loved the M11x r1 and R3 models I had.
Best netbook I ever owned.
I'd love and R4 version but at the same time would quite happily invest in an M12x or M13x should the line be revised.
As honestly... The product line needs to be refreshed with a new design.
Due to the attention this thread alone is receiving, I believe it more than fair to claim that whatever the next truly portable revision is, it will be successful nonetheless. -
Out of Dell's entire range there are 3 machines I would buy as my next machine:
1. An m11x with Ivy Bridge. After Dell discontinued the m11x I started looking at other options, and decided I wanted...
2. An XPS 13 with Ivy Bridge. Waited for the refresh, never happened. Moved on to the backup plan I've always wanted to try out...
3. A Convertible Laptop/Tablet ( like Latitude XT3) with Ivy Bridge. Also not updated.
They haven't made an Ivy Bridge version of any of these yet. What the heck is going on at Dell? They could have had my money months and months ago, and be tempting me with next years purchase. Instead they've got none of my money and I don't have a clue what I'll buy next. -
Back when I participated regularly at Dell's IdeaStorm website, I started off thinking "great, at least Dell wants to stay in touch with its customers".
Well, someone at Dell does want that, but it has 0 effectiveness in practice. The recommendations they choose to follow and implement are often ridiculous (like "add more memory to Inspiron laptops" -- well duh, as time goes on of course they will add more memory.
Not to mention that the few ideas I've seen placed "under review" by Dell staff received zero further feedback, including one for better screens on AW laptops, where they discarded the idea of better screens but liked the idea of a swappable screen lid which could change the laptop's color. Really?
If you want solid customer service go with Dell but their product design and market research teams need to be fired and start from scratch. -
signed. still want a r4. really like my r3, hope it would be an unibody design
-
Where do I sign - I tried clicking the link but to no avail.
All this talk of the R4 - I want my R3 again and fully regret ever selling it!
I might just have to purchase one as a back up to my main laptop.... -
Since my refurb R3 showed up my brand new M14x R2 is getting no love. Im actually debating whether I should sell it.
I can see now that the M11x R3 is truly the better mobile option for me 95% of the time. Im still playing the same games that I had hoped to, albeit at a lower resolution than the HD+ M14x. My pre-purchase thoughts on the M14x were that it would be more future proof and the larger screen size would be more immersive...and it is to some extent...but somehow I find the extra size and heft to be exponentially more unwieldy, which can't be made up by its performance gains in actual use. -
-
haha I am totally the same I want the M14x R2 but then look at how beefy it is compared to my little M11x sitting next to my screen and that fact it can still punch out results at 1080p and I cannot push myself to get rid of it.
An R4 would be so awesome I just cannot stomach the cheap look of the W110ER which is lacking so much with ports and backlit keyboard and build quality. -
I believe that this was more or less the confirmed plan relayed from a Dell speaker I read about recently - Dell supposedly is selling ultrabooks at three times the rate they expected - and the M11x was yanked to help maintain this growth and at the same time clear the way for a "sub-14" notebook from Alienware with a more "ultrabook" design. That's nice IF the resulting product is at least as powerful as the M11x-R3... I'm glad people aren't quitting laptops altogether for tablets, but I fear the "thin is in" for laptops to compete with tablets will leave Alienware in a tight spot. They seem to always forget that the systems are first about performance and styling and less about chic portability. Light is nice... but not at the cost of real performance.
-
I don't really understand the craze about ultrabooks 13-15-17 inch is still 13-15-17 inch it does not matter how thin the bugger is and they only pack a HD4000 directly from the ULV so it will never beat an 11 inch gaming model.
-
I still think the m11x will be reborn as a convertible tablet based off the new XPS12 duo.

I'm planning on buying a new machine in the next 6 months, and now I'm agonizing. What can replace this?
Of course I felt the same way about my MBP before I got my R1. -
Anyway, I've got no clear answer. I'm thinking I have to wait and see what surprises Windows 8 brings in a few weeks. Maybe I'll be happily surprised, but I'm not so sure. -
If you're willing to settle for the ratrod of gaming laptops there's the Sager NP6110 / Clevo W110ER...and that's about it.
-
The W110ER reminds me of Twitch from League of Legends dangerous bugger but hilariously ugly! 8)
-
I saw that 11-inch Clevo. The ugliness doesn't bother me. Something about it, though, makes me not ready to buy it yet. I'm tempted to get a second R3 from the Outlet.
-
If you intend to go from the perfectly lit keyboard of the AW to a cheap chiclet of the Clevo be prepared to be disappointed. Get yourself another R3
-
Well, Dell is making their Windows 8 announcements and still no word of a new Alienware. I think I've got to give up on an m11x R4 ... I'll keep watch over the next couple of weeks though.
-
If anyone spots or knows of an M11x R3 with the i7 2637m Processor gives a shout.
Already have a big 17 inch gaming laptop but for some reason I still want that Alienware again... Just fills the void for truly portable gaming as well as just general high performance for its size. -
Signed.
I would like to see an M11x R4! -
-
definitely want an r4. something to replace my r2
-
I would of signed but see it's closed now, should of been paying more attention to the M11X forum. I still don't see me getting rid of my R1.
-
man I wanna buy M11x red for my wife so much but cannot find it even on ebay or amazon. hope they will do R4 once
-
Just accidentally stumbled onto this article which I thought I would have seen ages ago since it's pretty old. Basically says a Dell rep told someone over the phone that the m11x would be rebranded, and that there will be an alienware ultrabook by the end of the year...
well, we're nearly at the end of the year, so where's the big announcement?
Dell May Rebrand Alienware M11x Gaming Laptop, Alienware Ultrabook Possible, Too | Maximum PC -
Too little too late, we are in mini gaming territory and ultra books are only favourable to particular people. It does not matter how thin something is if it is 15-17 inchs in size it still means something large to carry round.
Also who would go Dell if they wanted an Ultrabook? Seriously. -
I'm thinking it will probably take Apple to lead the way to the next generation game-capable mini.
-
sign me up for it, i would get a m11x r4 in a heart beat if they released one. Love the mobility of it and the ability to play most games.
Petition for an M11x R4.
