So my FIRST R1 took the overclock like a champ.
My second one doesn't like it at all. Isn't even stable for even basic intahnet browsing and what not.

    What about you?
    R1? Any problems overclocking?

People run without the OC on?

Mine has been overclocked as soon as it came out of the box (before it even booted into Windows for the first time).

I can't imagine running it without the OC on.

Max overclock with no issues on i7 R2.

Usually stay stock because I get great frames anyway.

Ive had my r1 oc since day one. It sucks though cause the overclocking they put in the R1 is so lame. Either on or off, you cant change frequency, multiplier, voltages, etc etc. So if its unstable theres no way for you to stabilize it with extra settings.

Pretty stable here with my r1 (su4100). I've played through multiple games (BFBC2, Assassin's Creed 2, Bioshock 2, Black Ops to name a few) with no problems with the exception of Crysis. Crysis kept crashing on me requiring a hard reboot.

I THOUGHT my R1 was taking it like a champ and used it that way for months. I noticed that some online Flash GPU-accelerated videos were corrupted with Intel graphics and not nVidia graphics. When it was set back to normal clock speeds, the same vids worked fine regardless of which graphics I was using.

Just out of interest, people who have had issues with oc'ing, have you tried disabling intel speedstep? Or whatever the thing is called. As far as i understand the oc problem, it is because the cpu is undervolted for some reason. The intel speedstep thing might undervolt the cpu to save power. Just a thought. Any comments from anyone?

Just overclocked my M11x R1, it's stable at 35C on both core 0 and 1. Nvidia card is showing 37C. I am happy to report I just logged into trade district in stormwind in Wold of Warcraft using the overclock and the nvidia card and I got between 30-60 fps running around with tons of people doing things. so temps all look good. Fan is not loud at all. It looks like I got a good one. I'm running hardware monitor to verify the temps.

I'm impressed. Could definitley run instances or raids with this thing on the road.

hey guys, right now im browsing through some websites and installing a game, and my cpu temperature is at 46C and has been for a while now, is this normal?
also, I noticed that when i switch to the integrated graphics, the fan stops spinning, and will spin maybe every 10 or so minutes for couple seconds and then stop again.. is that also normal? :p

I believe speedstep is automatically disabled when overclocking is switched on.

I will have to try that...

I average greater than 1 crash per day while overclocked.

    *edit*

Just a word of caution: you should always stress test your overclock to see if it will hold up. Use IntelBurnTest for at least 10 minutes or run prime95 overnight. If it runs without errors, your overclock should be stable.
