Temps for my CPU and GPU are both around 85 degrees Celsius when I play Diablo 3.

Is that getting hot or is that normal? Either way, Diablo 3 should run perfectly.. or so canyourunit.com says.

I lag pretty hard when I am fighting monsters.. especially if there are two or more people fighting with me. My FPS drops to an unbearable 5ish and I die a lot of times because of that.

Is this normal or is there something wrong with my baby M11x? :(

And it's not lag due to my internet. I have awesome internet.

Nothing to worry about temperature wise just make sure there is clean airflow and consider using compressed air in the fan vents should you get near 90oC.

If you are using an R2 a ULV and 335M GT performs as well as it can with this game to be honest it is very CPU intensive when several monsters are on screen along with all the magic/spells. It wont be your internet.

The game will be optimised and patched just these things take time.

Does it happen in singleplayer? Or only when there's multiple people?

If it only happens in multiplayer then it's not your PC it's the multiplayer lag which everyone gets, some more than others. It doesn't matter what internet you have because the issue is not on your end.

Also he has an R3. My R1 runs D3 fine so you shouldn't be having issues.

I'm afraid the R3 won't run it perfectly, the best thing you can do is turn shadows completely off/clutter off/physics off and keep detail and AA on high and it runs reasonably well.

At the end of the day Diablo 3 is more processor heavy then GPU heavy and since the M11X lacks processing power it will always start to chugg :(

Well now that's not true at all.

The CPU handles it just fine, and in fact the M11x runs Diablo 3 better than alot of the other Alienware laptops. Albeit that's due to them having compatibility issues, but the R3 i7 does not have problems running Diablo 3 and if anything it's the GPU which is the bottleneck.

If we're talking about the entry-level R1 then sure, but everything higher than the SU7300 runs it fine. It's really not THAT processor intensive.

I doubt it's the GPU that's the bottleneck, Blizzard games are notorious for being processor heavy and not stressing the GPU's too much.

They do this because people tend to have a good processor but not a great GPU, if i'm wrong i'm wrong but either way all 3 versions of the m11x will not run this on anywhere near max settings and especially not max settings if you are playing with 2-3 other players.

I only play D3 with my wife and the M11X R3 i7/8GB starts to chug as soon as the sparks start to fly on a big number of enemies, if i have shadows on it becomes a slide show.

I just remember reading Diablo 3 benchmarks and them saying it's not very CPU dependent at all and the Sandy-Bridge Celerons had no issues maxing it, and i mean ULV or not these are Sandy-Bridge i5 & i7 chips which are definitely superior.

Plus i've not experienced these slowdowns on my R3, though it does happen on both my R1 and Asus g73 which are both running mechanical drives so i'm not sure if that's a factor. But i do know that just in general when there's multiple players the game lags, it's just badly optimized atm.

Well that's pure horse you're talking now, my R3 with an i5 and 6GB of RAM runs the game flawlessly completely maxed out.

Absolutely horse crap man if i max out this game on my r3/i7/8gb it chugs i'm talking anything from 10-30 fps it barely gets to 30 fps in a fight.

Maybe we have different standards but no way in hell are you running it flawlessly completely maxed out.

Could you give me the drivers you are using?

Make sure its running on the nvidia card by checking if "high performance processor" is enabled under the specific program settings in the nvidia control panel

also make sure ambient occlusion is turned off in those settings as well

Well that sounds like an issue you're experiencing then, because on my R3 maxed i'm still getting a very playable 30-50 FPS but i prefer the smoothness so i just run it on mid-high.

Are you absolutely sure it's using the 540M? Because the integrated GPU is still capable of playing things like Skyrim at a decent FPS.

    I'm using Drivers 8.17.12.9573

I know the 540M is being used as the machine sounds as loud as my wifes hair dryer, also the icon in the task tray shows what program it's using.

Maxed out i get 30fps when not fighting when i start fighting the game starts to chug.

If i turn shadows off it's a completely different story with 30-60 fps at all times.

Have done that, my point being at MAX settings i don't believe anyone is running it ''flawlessly'' maybe they just have different tastes to FPS drops but flawlessly in my opinion is 50-60.

I know there are many people out there who consider flawlessly at 20-30 fps.

If anyone is running it at max settings 50-60fps at all times EVEN in battle i would like to see it FRAPS and youtube please.

What about your power profiles? Are you using high performance or power saving? It makes a huge difference.

also using fraps reduces your FPS by about 10.

Give the vents a clean or something, the game runs fine with everything on. Sounds like your machine has problems to be honest.
I just updates my graphics drivers to the latest ones and it still runs fine.

My machine is fine runs skyrim 50-60 fps, i clean the vents once a week, again if anyone is running it at max settings fraps+youtube please and we can add +10 fps onto it.

Fraps only takes FPS off if recording?

Everything on as in max settings or are some of your settings on medium? ie shadows.

Because at the end of the day shadows is the fps killer, medium shadows i can maintain 50-60fps at all times, if i put shadows on high then it drops below 30 in battles.

Use an Ethernet cord not wireless.
