After having my drive for about 2 weeks, I've noticed degrading read/write performance on a drive with more than 40gb free... Is this normal?

HDtune doesnt benchmark sandforce ssd's well. If you really need to benchmark use AS-SSD, or ATTO. But be careful with benchmarking because they can write a LOT to your ssd and greatly greatly decrease its performance.

The biggest thing is to optimize your system for a ssd (use james d's link) and make sure you have the latest chipset drivers.
