    (1) Nope, can't be done. The mini-PCIE slot in the Alienware M11x does not have a Disk Controller, which would be necessary to use a drive like the Intel 310.

    (2) People with SSD's usually work around the low space by putting only OS + apps + games on their SSD. That stuff has load times, so they can actually take advantage of the speed of an SSD. The stuff that really consumes space is media (photos, videos, music, , etc). That stuff gets zero benefit from SSD speeds, so that stuff ends up on an external USB drive, where capacity is abundant and cheap.

I have that set up in my desktop 160GB SSD boot 300GB Raptor games and then 750 WD black and 1TB drive for data and Pics and music and all else..
I am thinking about using the SDHC card slot for more storage space.. I have 70GB left on my 256GB and I am trying manage space

    70GB should be fine.

I don't know about you, but once I install everything on a computer, I really don't use a lot of space above and beyond that. I might use a few dozen GB here or there for movies / videos that I'll watch when I'm travelling with my laptop, but I only load the movies that I intend to watch. I don't need to load every single movie that I own onto the laptop.

And by doing that, I get by just fine with 120GB SSDs on my machines.
