    Hi,

i use Thaipoohn burner 7.X to change the SPD of my ram...
I unchecked CL5 and CL6 for both RAM and fixed the checksum.
I wrote the new Info to EEprom and make a reboot.

HWINFO says, that the ram only support cl7 and cl8 - thats fine, but:

    actual used:
    400Mhz - CL: 7-6-6-15-1T

    (before it was:
    400mhz - CL: 6-6-6-15-1T

    Is that correct?

I thought, that the mainbaord recognize the change and boot up the RAM with CL 7 and use the 533 Mhz-Mode....?

That seems right. I believe it'd hit 533 Mhz when you overclock your CPU in the bios.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

thats not right, Thaipoohn burner should have changed the timings to 7-7-7 20.
    i think.

He only changed CAS latency. So only 7-6-6

just changing CAS wont do much. the other timings need to change too.

Well from what he did, the result is correct.. He unticked CL6 support, therefore now it's showing 7-6-6.

getting cas 7 is correct, but unless the other timings change, there wont be a difference. especially when overclocking.

I was able to get 170mhz overclocked on my R2 i7 on 6-6-6.
Then I changed my timing to 8-6-6, and now i can manage 180mhz overclock.

Either you run into the limit of your CPU/RAM/northbridge or changing the RAM CAS to 8 does nothing. Try SPD modding for 8-8-8-24.

Yes. Might just be the other timings being too fast despite changing the CAS to 8.

could be, if i were able to borrow my friends r2 for a day i could try to figure out which ram sticks are the most stable, and if i can get them the flash at 7-7-7-20. or cas8.

i have 4 sets of 4gb i can test out if im able to use his r2.
