Hey guys. This is my first post in the M11x forum. I read through these forums a lot and was trying to find some information I haven't really come across yet....

I wanted to buy a new M11x ($599 price is great), and noticed there is the R1 and R2. I wanted to get an R1, as its cheaper, but I had a question about the casing on it. I know the new R2's all come with the "soft touch" casing, and the R1's had the metallic casing similar to the M15x and M17x.

I just wanted to know, if I ordered a new M11x R1 now, would it have the soft touch casing or the original metal like case? When I go to order, it says "cosmic black," but I wasn't really sure since all their photos of the M11x show the soft touch, and I dont know if they converted the R1s casing to the R2s. I called Dell, and I couldn't get a straight answer (as always lol).

    Thanks for any input.

I think you still get the metallic casing for the r1. The soft touch is only for the r2

Ok. That is the only thing I really wanted to clarify. I noticed the Cosmic Black, and really wasn't sure as Dell doesn't update everything all the time.

Thank you for the response. Much appreciated.

Agreed. When you configure an R2, the color option is specifically listed as 'Soft Touch Stealth Black' whereas an R1 configuration only allows for 'Cosmic Black.'

Awesome. Yea I just noticed that. I figured it was the metal casing, but I just wanted to check in with you guys, since even Dell reps couldn't give me a straight answer.

Thanks for all the responses. I will be placing the order now.
