    Hi all.

I have just picked one of the m11x r1s from dell at 449. Seemed like a good deal so i thought what the hell especially after reading about the laptop on this here forum. Have to say before i go any further a lot of the threads on here have been so helpful and very informative.

Now i am hoping you can help me out.

As it stands i have created my recovery boot drive and tested it and it works perfectly.

I would really like to format the drive delete the recovery partition and then install my back up that i created using acronis of only the operating system partition. So the machine would basically be back to factory state less the recovery partition. Is this going to be possible or am i going to have to do a fresh install of windows and then follow the guides on here to get it looking like it does now with the backgrounds splash screens etc?

Is there a lite version of the alien fx control centre. I have no need for any of the stuff that is found in there except alien fx and maybe just maybe the one that lets you switch between power plans. The other two i have no use for. I have read that i can disable them and will do so if i cant find an alternative but would prefer to just get shot of them altogether.

If anyone can answer these questions before i start formatting the drive i would be most grateful.

    Cheers

Better to clean install, your acronis backup will still have programs utilizing recovery partition anyway (alienrespawn/dell datasafe). The method you described would yield almost the same result if you delete the recovery partition anyway.

for alienfx, here, but in I've read posts that it's quite unstable.

for alienfusion (the power settings thing), you can just disable them from services, and use windows power options instead.
