I was wondering if an external monitor could be connected to the M11x. Like the laptop itself could act as the tower if it was a desktop. I love my little computer but it'd be nice to play BF3 on a bigger screen. This may be a stupid question but I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff. Thanks in advance!

Yes... HDMI and what i believe is a display port. R1 has VGA in addition.

Yes it can. But be aware that if you decide to play games on a higher resolution, then you may experience lower FPS.

I do this sometimes when we have class in a computer lab. I'll take my M11x, plug in the school's keyboard, mouse, monitor, and network, and it's great.

I plug my M11x R2 into my 24" 1080p monitor via HDMI most of the week (I leave my M14x at my gf's place much of the time). Works totally fine for normal internet browsing, etc. I haven't really tried it for gaming because, as mentioned above, the high screen resolution will most likely cause FPS drops and decreased performance. But it can be done!

Depends on the game. NFSWorld, BF2 are the ones I mess with. Hard reset demo, SSam... all work ok for me at higher than native LCD res and I have two external panels active @1080.

I might run into problems if I do not use projector only mode to disable the other two screens! Even just a 3rd using the mod drivers for the R1 will cause problems. Having DP and HDMI seem to be ok.

Will it run anything on max? Nope! So the points are valid (like townfries said) but it WILL run games.

My M11x R3 is HMDI'd to my 42" plasma almost 24/7, i play WoW on it perfectly fine. Really the performance drop isn't that great.
