I just noticed there was a very very small red dot, looks like a dead pixel but the color is red, right underneath the web cam, on the screen, its too small to notice, and i could live with that being there, but my main question was, does anyone know what that is?

Also is it a serious problem?

Should i call dell and get it fixed or not worth the hassle? it does not seem to bother me as it is extremely small and having a black wallpaper, i can hardly notice it, but it is in a way annoying as it looks similar to a dead pixel.

The Red Dot is positioned on the top of the screen right underneath the black outer screen case that separates it.

Its right below the web cam.

I am in the assumption that it could be a "stuck pixel" not necessarily dangerous or something to be cautioned about?

This link refers to the M17x, I assume it is also applicable to the m11x.
Alienware Replacement Policy For the M17 Laptop Screen

Edit: For me, I would try and diagnose it as described in that article, and contact support if it appears to be a defect. These laptops are not cheap and you pay top dollar for a reason. Quality.

    Thx

Its Red only and theres only one as far as i can see on a black wallpaper, on top, not even in the range of me detecting it, nor is it even a big issue, but just wanted to know what it was or why it was there.

I really don't want to finger it, seeing if dell guys do replace it, it may solve that 1 pixel problem but may begin other new problems like the hinges, which so far, i have no hinge problems.

One more question, if i bought from dell online, can i buy a extended warranty before the first year ends or do i have to get it within a certain time period?

I just bough a certified refurb M11x from Dell and it came with a "Stuck" pixel not a "Dead" pixel.

It was reddish/pinkish and before I called dell I just googled stuck pixels, followed some simple online remedy, and it has been working ever since.

The M11x is 2 weeks old and I only saw the stuck pixel the first day.

(BTW) Yes you can extend the warranty , but it has to be before the warranty ends....
